Speak Words of Truth . . .
"The canvassing work is a work of great responsibility, and it means much not only to those who are engaged in it, but to the people for whom they labour. Let the canvasser remember that his work is evangelistic in its nature, and that God wants those whom he meets to be saved. Let him keep his heart under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Let him keep the Bible near him for reference, and when an opportunity presents itself to speak words of truth, let him pray for grace to speak wisely, that to those to whom he speaks his words may be a savour of life unto life. - Review and Herald, June 16, 1903.

Our Great Responsibility

While looking at the world around us we sense that a lot of changes are taking place which has affected individual lives every day. Many people are looking for solutions to their problems and are willing to listen and share their views on what they know and experience. Visiting homes with our Literature Evangelist team members this month, I find that people are just waiting for us to visit them in their homes and buy our books.

Listed below are some comments we received from different people we visited:

A working mother: - “I thank you for visiting us today. I should have been at work already and I don’t know why I am still at home, but I believe God sent you here because what you shared is the very problem I am facing with my teenage son right now. You are doing a great work.”
She ordered her set of books.

A grandmother: - “I was shown something last night in my dream, and when I left home this morning I told my friend that we will meet someone today. As I saw you walking up the driveway I sensed that you were doing something very important. After listening to your program, we agreed that we need that kind of program to be shared with every family, can I pray for you.”
This lady prayed and she asked the Lord to bless us to reach every family.

A grandmother with her daughter and two grandchildren: - “I believe God sent you to our home today, I have been praying and talking to my daughter about bringing up my two grandchildren. I was just sharing with her this morning and now you came to tell us the very thing we discussed this morning. I thank God for bringing you into our home today.”
She encouraged her daughter to buy a set of books for the children and she ordered the “Foods & Healing Power” set for herself because of a disease she has. She even paid $100 deposit for her set of books.

No Time to Lose: - "The canvassing work is a work of great responsibility, meaning much to the men and women who engage in it. We are living in the time when there is a great work to be done and what better opportunity can we have to give the call to the supper Christ has prepared. Those who at this time take up canvassing work with earnestness and consecration will be greatly blessed. You have no time to lose. Give yourself willingly and unselfishly to the doing of His work. Remember that it is evangelistic in its nature, and that it helps to give a warning which is greatly needed."

The Tumour Had Returned
I met Helen (now a Party host) some time ago who had just recently had a brain tumour removed. I called on her and showed her the large Family Bible. However, before I met Helen a Catholic Nun had purchased a family Bible for her son, but when she discovered that it had Adventist beliefs in the back, she told me to take it back and give it to someone who needs it.

When visiting with Helen I was unaware of her tumour and God impressed me to give her that Bible for free. This was the first spiritual book she had ever received and she has now bought many since then. When I visited her, I wanted to spend more time with her, but I am very time poor so I had to trust that the silent preachers (our books) that God had put in her home would do their work together with my prayers!

This last Christmas when I called, she clung to me and said “Wendy you must help me”. She wanted me to pray for her like I have done many times previously, but this time to ask God to cure her. She wept as she told me that the tumour had returned. In spite of this she has continued hosting book parties strengthened by her baby faith that she had found through our books and through my relationship with her.

Two weeks ago she came to the door all smiles and said that God had cured her! The last time she visited the doctors they couldn't believe that they couldn’t find any tumour. The tumour that they were sure was there had disappeared.

Helen has developed a strong love for God and would like to study the Bible more.

You Are An Answer to Prayer!

While working we met Anthony, who has been suffering from heart problems since last year and has been on medication. The night before our visit, Anthony and his wife had been praying, asking God for help and Anthony said, “You two are an answer to our prayers because we asked God to help us and He did by sending to us people with information that will help us on healthful living and here you are with the answers”.

We prayed with them and while in prayer they were both in tears thanking God that He has sent us to them with information that is very much needed at this time.

They ordered the five Encyclopedia of Food sets and one Family Medical Care set. Anthony is seated with a smile on his face showing that he is very happy with our visit.

Call Attention to Health Literature - "Tell the people that you have for sale books which give much valuable instruction regarding sickness and disease and how to avoid them and that a study of this instruction saves much suffering and saves also much of the money spent in paying doctors’ bills. Tell them that in these books is advice which they cannot possibly obtain from their physician during the short visits he makes". Colporteur Ministry, page 90.
