Join Nakayoshi for our April community volunteering event at the 2016 Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco Japantown! This year, we will be participating in the grand parade as carriers of the Mikoshi! We will also be assisting SF Taru Mikoshi Ren with the takedown of the shrine immediately after the parade. Participants must be 18 years and older.

To participate in this event, please do the following:
1. Fill out the Google form
Be sure to add NYP after your last name so SF Taru Mikoshi Ren can get a headcount on our volunteers!

2. Meet in front of Nihonmachi Terrace at 1615 Sutter Street at 9:30 AM on Sunday, April 17th, 2016. Registration starts at 10:00 AM.

See Facebook event for additional details.

4/26/16 [Social] Baachan's Kitchen at JCCCNC

April's Nakayoshi Social Event will be at the JCCCNC to participate in their bi-monthly Baachan's Kitchen program on Tuesday, April 26 starting at 6:30 PM. The Baachan's Kitchen program features local baachans (grannies) from the community, who share their family recipes of authentic Japanese American dishes with young professionals. Participants will assist in making the dishes for a communal family-style meal shared by everyone. Exact menu items for April's BK session are TBD. The program is also BYOB, so feel free to bring some beverages to share!

Spaces are limited to the first 30 to sign up, so advance online registration is required. Prices are $10 for JCCCNC members, $15 for non-members.

More information on Baachan's Kitchen can be found on the JCCCNC's website.

March 2016 Recap

In March, Nakayoshi members volunteered at the JCCCNC's special luncheon and performance of the musical, "Nihonmachi: The Place to Be." The luncheon honored Niseis --- the generation that not only endured internment but also bounced back to make Nihonmachi the place that it is now.
On March 24th, Nakayoshi held its first "Nomikai Around the Bay" event at Izakaya Ginto in downtown San Francisco. It was great to get to know people better and welcome some new faces in a casual setting over good food and drinks! Also, a big happy birthday to Jason, our longtime core member!
At Japantown's Mifune restaurant for lunch during our monthly meeting last month. Come out next time to help us plan our future events!
