ADELPHI AREA MIDDLE SCHOOL

Project Executive: Christian Broyles

Past Month’s Accomplishments:
  • MEPF hangers and interior wall layout and fire proofing in building sector 1B completed.
  • Installation of roof panels in building sectors 1A and 1B completed.
  • Forming and pouring of concrete stage and ramp completed.
  • Exterior wall panels in building sector 2K completed.
  • Framing out of interior walls on first floor and ceiling hat channels in building sector 1A completed.
  • Underground site storm water infrastructure at parking lot area completed.
  • Interior CMU block elevator shaft walls completed.
  • Ceiling hat channel installation and MEPF rough-in in sector 1B in progress.
  • Site storm water utilities installation in the soccer field in progress.
  • Interior CMU block walls in building sector 2G in progress.
  • Building foundation wall waterproofing and backfill in progress.
  • MEPF hangers and interior wall layout building in level 2 and fireproofing ceiling lath in sectors 1A and 1B in progress.
30-Day Look Ahead:
  • Installation of hat channel system in building sectors 1A, 1B, and 2K is ongoing.
  • Interior wall framing in building sectors 1B and 2K is ongoing.
  • MEP ceiling rough-in in building sector 1B is ongoing.
  • Installation of MEPF hangers in level 2 of building sectors 1A and 1B to be completed.
  • Interior CMU block walls in building sector 2G to be completed.
  • Exterior brick around the perimeter of the building to be completed.
  • Installation of exterior wall panels in building sector 2G to continue.
  • Installation of site storm utilities to continue. 
DREW-FREEMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • Installation of metal decking and secondary exterior steel in building sectors 2G and 2K completed.
  • Hanger rough-in overhead MEPF in building sectors 1A and 1B completed.
  • Installation of building perimeter knee wall in building sectors 1A, 1B and 2G completed.
  • Installation of secondary steel on building sectors 1A and 1B in progress
  • Installation of fireproofing in building sectors 1B and 2G in progress.
  • Installation of interior CMU block walls in progress.
  • Installation of interior wall framing and MEPF in sector 1A in progress.
  • Installation of interior storm/sanitary lines in progress.
30-Day Look Ahead:
  • Installation of MEPF in first floor and exterior brick in building sectors 1A and 1B is ongoing.

HYATTSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • Interior CMU block walls and ceiling hat channel installation for fireproofing at sector 2K completed.
  • All concrete slab pours on metal deck floors at sector 1B completed.
  • Steel for entrance canopy completed.
  • Fireproofing at 1st and 2nd floors of building sector 1A completed.
  • Metal panel roof at building sector 2G completed.
  • Underground telecom duct bank installation at west side of site completed.
  • Secondary steel install at building sectors 1B, 2G, and 2K in progress.
  • Building perimeter knee wall construction at building sectors 2G and 2K in progress.
  • Building foundation wall waterproofing and backfill in progress.
  • MEPF hangers and interior wall construction at building sector 1A (floors 1-3) in progress.
  • Interior wall framing and one-siding at sector 1A (Floors 1-2) in progress.
  • Spray fireproofing at building sector 1A (Floor 3) and 1B (Floor 1) in progress.
  • Storm water utilities at south side of building in progress.
  • Installation of stair 3 in progress.
  • CMU bracing installation at building sector 2G in progress.
  • Roof parapet framing and blocking in progress.
30-Day Look Ahead:
  • Exterior metal wall panel installation at building sector 2K to begin.
  • MEPF hanger installation at building sectors 1A and1B is ongoing.
  • Installation of HVAC ductwork at building sector 1A (2nd and 3rd floors) to continue.
  • Installation of interior metal stairs (Stair 2) to begin.
  • Fireproofing at 1B sector to continue.
  • TPO roof installation to begin.
KENMOOR MIDDLE SCHOOL

Past Month’s Accomplishments:
  • Brick masonry walls and backfill at the perimeter of the building completed.
  • Ceiling hat channel and purlin bracing work and ceiling lath installation in 2K
    completed.
  • Interior wall framing in level 1 of sector 1B completed.
  • 70% of interior wall framing in level 1 of sector 1A completed.
  • All MEPF hangers on sector 1A and second level of sector 1B completed.
  • Fireproofing in sector 1B level 1, Sector 2G completed. 
  • Fireproofing in Sector 2K in progress.
30-Day Look Ahead:
  • Installation of fireproofing lath system in building sectors 1A (level 2), 1B (level2), and 2K is ongoing.
  • Interior wall framing in building sectors 1A and 2K is ongoing.
  • MEP ceiling and wall rough-in in building sectors 1B (level 2) and 2K is ongoing. 
  • Interior CMU block walls and installation of the roof panels in building sector 2G to be completed.
  • Installation of exterior wall panels in building sectors 1A, 1B, and 2K to continue.
  • Installation of site sanitary sewer utility to be completed.
SOUTHERN AREA K-8 ACADEMY
Project Executive: Arland Knipe

Past Month’s Accomplishments:
  • Concrete slab on grade at 4-story tower completed.
  • Concrete building foundations and under slab utilities at 3-story tower completed.
  • Steel erection at building sequence 2B (North Center area), 3A and 3B (4-story tower) completed.
  • Metal roof decking at building sequence 2A and 2B completed.
  • Secondary steel at building sequence 1 completed.
  • Storm utility work along west side of building pad completed.
  • Concrete slab on grade at 3-story tower in progress.
  • Steel erection and metal decking at the 4-story tower at building sequence 3 in progress. 
  • Secondary steel at building sequence 2 in progress.
  • Exterior knee wall framing and sheathing in progress.
  • MEP hangers install in sequence 1 in progress.
30-Day Look Ahead:
  • Interior CMU block wall construction to begin.
  • TPO roofing installation at building sequence 1 to begin.
  • Concrete slab on deck at 4-story tower to begin.
  • Steel erection at 3-story tower to begin.
  • Stabilization of playfields to be completed.
WALKER MILL MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • Primary and secondary steel installation in building sector 2G completed.

  • Building perimeter knee wall installation in building sectors 1A and 2G in progress.
  • Installation of interior MEP overhead rough-in in building sector 1B in progress.
  • Interior wall framing at building sector 1B in progress.
  • Interior wall layout building, fireproofing, and installation of roof panels at building sector 1A in progress.
  • Installation of CMU at building sector 2K and elevator shaft in progress.
30-Day Look Ahead:
  • Installation of roof panels at building sector 1A to be completed.
  • Installation of roof panels at building sector 2G to be completed.

Community Investment Spotlight:
Christmas in April
This April, Gilbane Building Company along with the United States Air Force, hosted a Christmas in April event where we performed exterior improvements for a resident in need in the Prince George’s County community. Christmas in April is a national nonprofit program that rehabilitates homes for low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly and those with disabilities. A team of more than 15 volunteers completed a variety of improvements including:
  • Replaced the roof
  • Replaced the garage
  • Replaced the back steps so they are easier to get up and down
  • Fixed / Painted the soffit
  • Removed a tree
  • Replaced all exterior lights with motion sensor lights
  • Renovated the shed
  • Fixed / Stained the fence
  • Weeded / mulched the planting areas
  • Planted flowers
  • Edged / Mowed the lawn
  • Helped dispose of old items in the dumpster
  • Installed new solar lights on the fence posts
  • Re-secured decking boards and structure
  • Replaced water spigots
 
Additionally, the following companies that donated materials and services to help accomplish our goals:
  • HRGM Corporation – Donated shingles, replaced the roof on the house and the shed, fixed the soffit
  • Brightview Landscaping – Donated mulch and plants
  • WB Waste – Provided a dumpster
  • Jiffy Johns – Provided a chemical toilet
