Chancellor provides update on Gov. Kelly's budget recommendations for KU

This year, the Governor recommends a 5.3 percent cut to KU's base appropriation, which amounts to $13.6 million. As a percentage, this would be the largest cut to KU since 2010. As a dollar amount, this would be the largest cut to KU in history. Chancellor Girod, in a note to campus, said he is "disappointed and concerned" by the Governor's proposed budget.

COVID-19 test under development at KU moving closer to commercial readiness

KU researchers are working with venture capitalists and large existing companies to help move an at-home rapid COVID-19 test out of the laboratory and into the marketplace. The technology developed by a KU professor's group and his private spinout company would allow at-home users to see results in around 15 minutes.

Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center announces new graduates

Twenty-nine new law enforcement officers from around Kansas graduated in December from the state’s law enforcement licensing authority, operated by KU. About 300 officers enroll annually in KLETC 14-week basic training programs. KLETC offers continuing education and specialized training to more than 10,000 Kansas officers each year.

New Kansas Statistical Abstract
offers key data for state, local leaders

The publication includes data on medical resources, broadband Internet access, and solar energy in the state. The 54th edition of the abstract shares data on Kansas and the United States in 16 categories that provides context for the challenges Kansans are now facing.
