Communicators meeting November 28

The second KU Communicators meeting of the fall semester will be Monday, Nov. 28 at 11:45 a.m. in the Big 12 Room of the Kansas Union. Lauren Erickson, interim director of Marketing Communications, will provide an update on the KU brand.

As always, lunch cards will be provided, and you’ll need to RSVP online. If you need an accommodation due to a disability, submit your request by November 21 to Emma Cornish.

Bold Aspirations progress report online

What a difference five years can make. The university recently completed Year 5 implementation efforts as part of our Bold Aspirations strategic plan, and the latest annual progress report is now online.

The report employs an infographic format to quickly communicate the progress KU has made as a result of the strategic plan. Year 5 areas of focus were: progression and graduation; campus diversity and climate; online and international enrollment; metrics of research performance; and Central District redevelopment.

KU Elevate videos available soon

On Oct. 28, the university hosted KU Elevate: Innovation in Action, a TED Talk-style event featuring presentations from four KU researchers who are changing the world through innovation.

Videos of the four KU presenters – Paul Atchley, Tracie Collins, Chris Depcik and Kristi Neufeld – and special guest Marco Villa will be available at the KU Elevate website this week. We encourage you to incorporate the videos into your marketing and share them with faculty in your unit as an example of how they might present their research to external audiences.

Chancellor to host Central District event

The Integrated Science Building will take center stage Nov. 10 when Chancellor Gray-Little hosts a “topping out” ceremony with the Central District development team and construction crew. The event will include a short program and conclude with the ceremonial “raising of the final beam” atop the building, which will include 280,000 square feet of learning and research space when it opens in 2018.

Over the coming months, we will begin to talk more frequently about how the Integrated Science Building will fundamentally transform the face of science education and research at KU for years to come.
