Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua has appointed a Pouwhakahaere Taiao (Environmental Manager) to support the environmental management strategy and plan.
Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua Pouwhakahaere Shane Graham said the newly-created role was a critical part of the strategy to be active kaitiaki/guardians of the environment.
“The Pouwhakahaere Taiao (Environmental Manager) provides key enabling of the long-term environmental vision, values and strategy of the iwi.”

I am very excited to be joining Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua as Pouwhakahaere Taiao. I am particularly looking forward working with whānau to support and realise aspirations to protect, enhance and restore Te Taiao.
Some of the projects I will be focusing on include:
developing an Iwi Environmental Management Plan;
implementing Settlement mechanisms and ensuring representation roles are filled; and
protecting Ngāti Rārua taiao through advocacy and strategic partnerships with iwi and government agencies.
