Sight For All has gone from strength to strength in 2014. We now have sight saving projects in eight countries in Asia and in the Aboriginal communities of Australia. These projects enlist the phenomenal support of more than 100 eye care professionals from Australia and New Zealand - collectively our team of volunteers have contributed over 10,000 hours of service in the past year alone!
The appointment of our Executive Officer Judy Bickmore has seen a huge leap forward in our organisational capability, however with the announcement of further dramatic budget cuts to the Australian aid program, your support of Sight For All will be needed more than ever. The recent launch of our social impact initiative, Vision 1000, will have a huge impact on our programs and sustainability into the future, and the membership is growing steadily.
There is so much visual beauty in the world, however most of us simply take it for granted. The prospect of losing your ability to appreciate that beauty is unthinkable. Sadly, however, this is the reality for nearly 20 million blind people living on our doorstep in Asia. Enjoy our fabulous new TV commercial below, and please remember the gift of sight this festive season.
On behalf of the Board and team at Sight For All, I wish you all the very best for Christmas and a happy and healthy 2015.
Dr James Muecke
Vision 1000 involves 1000 individuals, organisations or trusts investing a minimum of $1000 each year to fund our sight-saving programs and ensure the viability of Sight For All into the future.
