Arizona AD Heeke points to mid-January for completion of the Wildcats' new indoor sports center & at the end of said month for it to be fully operational. More on the facilities front in Tucson as Heeke also notes continued review of upgrade options for Arizona Stadium, "We’ve done a number of studies that have produced a number of different options. We need to sit down and really decide what it is that we want to do, what we can manage from a financial standpoint. But we will do something." On seven FB kicks this season at 7p or later, "I don’t know if I’d term anything as fair or unfair. Unfortunately, it’s the luck of the draw. We value the relationships (with the Pac-12’s TV partners). We’ve come up on the wrong end of it, playing the later games. […] The positive side is, we’ve been on ESPN a number of times. That’s tremendous national exposure." (link)
Florida Atlantic will indeed add eight 'Paradise Cabanas' to the south end zone field-level at FAU Stadium next season priced at $12,500 a pop. Owls AD White: "You get the perspective, and the smells, and the noise, and the feeling like you get on the sideline. You get that experience, but you also get the premium experience of having a cooler with whatever you need, having premium food availability, [and] having nice cushy seats. [...] For us, we’re always looking at new ways to, one, improve the fan experience and, two, new ways to generate revenue. Our goal is that this could do both." White expects the units to sell-out. (link)
FCS Landscape: Nicholls State AD Roan indicates the Colonels bid $80K to host an opening round Playoff game, up from $50K last year when 9.6K+ fans saw Nicholls v. South Dakota, the highest first round attendance in 2017. Roan on the overall significance of hosting, beyond the profit-making potential, "It's a rallying point." (link); Montana State AD Costello after the Bobcats beat rival Montana to finish 7-4 & likely punch their ticket to the Playoffs: "This is the expectation now." (link); Portland State AD Cleary says FB HC Barnum will be back for the 2019 campaign, "I like the direction we are moving, on and off the field." (link); Delaware AD Rawak says the Blue Hens have raised $32M of a needed $35M to start construction on Delaware Stadium once the FB season is over. The overall price tag is $60M with the university kicking in the other $25M. HOK is the architect, Barton Marlow handling construction. More. (link)
USA Today's Wolken takes a look at 10 key developments yesterday around the FBS space, including the mental toll close games seem to be taking on Ohio State FB HC Meyer (more on that below), Wolken's belief that USC may have to make a HC move, "Nebraska is coming," Notre Dame's likely trip to the CFP & a potential staff revamp at Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech will host Marshall in Blacksburg on December 1, but only if it needs a win to become bowl eligible. With its loss yesterday to Miami (FL), the Hokies will have to beat Virginia next weekend to get to five victories on the season. (link); Notre Dame-Syracuse in Yankee Stadium got a ton of buzz, but Harvard-Yale was also played at a notable MLB ballpark yesterday. The Crimson defeated the Bulldogs in Fenway Park. (link)

Texas FB HC Herman's wife responds to former Ohio State AC Smith's allegations of her husband's infidelity. If you'll recall, according to screen shots posted by Smith of his text message conversation with Tom Herman warning him he would tell all, Herman responded "OK cool, Hook 'Em." Michelle Herman sported a custom-made t-shirt with just that on it this weekend. Looks like the slogan is available on sweatshirts, as well, and the proceeds from the sale of the clothing goes to Woman Called Moses, an advocacy group that helps "prevent and end the cycle of violence against women." (link, link)
Yahoo's Thamel reports Ohio State FB HC Meyer looked to be feeling fine after the thrilling overtime win at Maryland. However, during the contest was a different story as Meyer was "visibly shaken" & at times put his hands on his knees & head down away from his team's huddles. Thamel: "The pained images of Meyer on the sideline throughout the game brings his health back into focus, as he looked so tortured for most of the game that ESPN cameras zoomed in on him as much as the game action. Meyer appeared dazed, weak and needing to pause his movements at points to gather his strength to keep coaching the next play. […] On Saturday, the pain appeared difficult for Meyer to manage. And that will lead to the questions about his future intensifying." (link)
Colorado FB HC MacIntyre: "The thing about this business that’s tough is, when you do good, everybody’s asking why you’re leaving. They get mad at you when you’re leaving. I could’ve left (for) three good places, and stayed. That’s just the way it is. When you’re losing, they want to get rid of you. You can never win as a head coach on that, and I understand that." MacIntyre's son, Jay, a senior student-athlete for the Buffs, "I think it’s bulls---, honestly. I probably shouldn’t say that, but I don’t really understand it." (link, link)
With the news that LSU and former FB HC Miles settled his buyout money last week, The Advocate's Rabalais looks forward to potentially having Miles back in the college coaching game: "However you feel about Miles — his offensive philosophy, the way his tenure at LSU ended in September 2016, what have you — the game is unquestionably more fun with Miles in it." Former LSU AD Bertman, who hired Miles in Baton Rouge in 2005, thinks Miles' age isn't a factor: "I just don’t see him as 65. He is a real high-energy person. He goes in early and stays late and enjoys the heck out of it. He enjoys the players and the film (study) and so on. I think he will do a very, very good job." More Bertman, this on the potential that Miles lands at Kansas: "[KU AD] Jeff Long the athletic director needs a mature coach. He doesn’t need a young rah-rah coach, of which there are many good ones. He needs a coach who has a lot of connections with many people, because he’s been coaching a long time. It may not be important to fans, but it is to ADs: His ability to get kids to graduate is very strong. He has had an ability to keep out the off-the-field problems. The kids like him. It’s a tough spot. He’s got to coach them up and make them believers, but he’s good at that." (link)
FB HC bonus tracking, thanks to USA Today's Berkowitz includes $20K for Hawaii's Rolovich with UH's seventh win, $100K for Oregon's Cristobal for the same marker, $90K for Utah's Whittingham for the Utes winning its division, a likely $200K home attendance incentive for Fresno's Tedford, $25K for UCF's Heupel's AAC champ game appearance, $50K for South Carolina's Muschamp on bowl eligibility, same feat for Oklahoma State's Gundy equals $62.5K, Iowa's seventh win of the year gets HC Ferentz another year added to his deal at 100% guaranteed money, $250K for Kentucky's Stoops with the Wildcats' eight victory, more. Ticket sales for MBB games at New Mexico are up this year with 8,732 season tix moved already, compared to last year's total of 8,057. Luxury suites sales remained the same (20), but club level seats jumped from 106 to 126. Lobos Deputy AD Hutchins: "When you see an increase of close to 700 season tickets, that tells you things are turning int he right direction. I can just go back and say it's a credit to coach Weir and the program and also to our fans. When The Pit is rocking, there's nothing like it." (link)
The Minnesota Star Tribune reported last week Minnesota has narrowed its presidential search to nine candidates, one of whom will replace outgoing Prez Kaler. The Star Tribune's Hartman: "For Gophers fans, one has to wonder if there is any chance that the new president will be as supportive of the athletic department as Kaler has been since he was hired in 2011. While many people point to the fundraising push to construct an athletics village on campus as the defining athletic achievement under Kaler’s watch, the simple fact is that Kaler stood by and supported the athletic department while it dealt with scandal after scandal and also suffered through some pretty tough seasons in the revenue sports of men’s basketball, football and men’s hockey. Will the next president OK $114 million in operating expenses, the University of Minnesota athletic budget in 2017, if success doesn’t show in the major sports?" As for Kaler: "I’m not going to have to stop being a fan and being a spectator. But I won’t miss some of the decisions that come with being the president of a large institution with a very visible athletic program." Kaler credits AD Coyle and staff for APR improvements by the Gophers. (link)
Former Baylor FB student-athlete Faulk, who was accused in April 2016 of sexually assaulting a female student and removed from the team, recently filed a lawsuit against BU. "In his lawsuit Faulk claims that he was scapegoated by university officials, who were racially prejudiced and wanted to portray an image 'that the sexual assault problem at Baylor was not campuswide but confined to the football team.'" Baylor’s lawsuit said the disciplinary actions were the decision not of regents or top administrators but of athletics officials who “decided that Faulk was too big a risk to remain in the football program,” at a time when the university had just shaken up its top leadership over a sexual assault scandal." Part of Faulk's complaint is that the allegations and dismissal from the team harmed his pro career. The accuser never pressed charges. (link)

(link); "The five sports leagues involved in the Supreme Court sports betting case have won a follow-up lawsuit that sought millions of dollars in damages. Late Friday, United States District Judge Michael A. Shipp denied a claim filed in May by the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (NJTHA) -- a group associated with the Monmouth Park racetrack and casino -- asking 'for judgment on $3.4 million injunction bond plus interest and damages.'"
