#10: Ohio State: Suspended FB HC Meyer releases a new statement that includes, "I understand my lack of more action in this situation has raised concerns about this commitment. I once again apologize for this, and I extend my empathy to all women, men and families who are affected by relationship violence. This has been a real learning experience for me. I fully intend to use my voice more effectively to be a part of the solution. Let me say here and now what I should have said on Wednesday: I sincerely apologize to Courtney Smith and her children for what they have gone through." (link); The Big Ten's stance on the situation in Columbus, "We support the findings of the investigative team led by Mary Jo White, the recommendations of the Board of Trustees & the decision made by President Drake in consultation with the Board." (link); Given all the circumstances, Stadium's McMurphy does not believe Meyer will still be coaching the Buckeyes during the 2019 season. #9: Former Texas A&M turned Arizona FB student-athlete Marchiol has now left the Wildcats after allegations of his use of racial slurs in a Hudl clip have surfaced. (link)
#8: Ohio State: Courtney Smith says it's not true that an OSU lawyer asked her to drop charges from a 2015 arrest of her then-husband & former FB AC Zach Smith, "No way. I would have never said that." (link); Ohio State Trustee Wadsworth resigned after the multi-game suspension was handed down for FB HC Meyer, "Most people were concerned about whether it was a several-game suspension or not. To me, there was something altogether wrong about reducing it to a couple of games. […] You read the report and there’s seven or eight things about emails, memory loss, hearing things five times, and to me, that raised an issue of standards, values — not how many games someone should be suspended for." (link); At the other end of the spectrum is OSU BoT chair Gasser, who "took pride" in the investigation that was executed with a "deliberative nature." #5: All the elements needed for a FB Saturday are ready to roll in Arkansas' new north end zone digs. Hogs AD Yurachek notes some office work that still remains, but, "Everything else will be ready, and it will be finished within the $160 million budget which has been the case since this project started." #4: Ohio State: The university added a number of documents to the public records cache for the situation surrounding former FB AC Smith. Included are phone records, some between FB HC Meyer's wife & Smith's ex-wife, texts to & from Meyer & his agent Armstrong that include two individuals needing access to Meyer's phone for an expected four hours, plus Smith's arrest record from 2009 in Gainesville & notes from a strip club visit that included former OSU OC & current Texas HC Herman. #2: "BOLD" is the theme of Jacksonville's new brand look, which is highlighted by a 'JU' with a fin weaved into both letters. Two new dolphin-themed secondary marks are also part of the revamp. JU AD Ricker-Gilbert: "The time was right for a complete reimagining of our brand identity. Within our department these past two years our student-athletes have recorded the highest GPA in our history, captured eight championships and made ten national postseason appearances,. We have also seen a dramatic increase in our fundraising support, sponsorships participation, and attendance at our games. #1: Former Louisville Senior Assoc. AD for Development Jurich questions Cards AD Tyra on moving his family's FB & hoops seats in a sharply-worded email. Of note, "Why be so petty? Why not be confident in the leader you think you are, rather than disregard the leader my father has always been? Why not honor him? Why not allow him to keep the seats he has earned after 20 years? These seats aren’t a gift. They were accepted in lieu of a pay raise. […] Have you ever considered what my father did for you? He honored the legacy of your father. He was a steward of your money. He provided you with an amazing atmosphere for you as a fan and created a great product for you and your family.
