#9: "I don’t even put Texas A&M in our sphere because I’m considering Urban [Meyer]’s situation with three years left on his contract. Talking with [Susan Basso, vice president of human resources] and [Joanna McGoldrick, associate vice president of total rewards], that’s not even someone that we’re comparing with because it’s so ridiculous. It’s the same way with Alabama and their total salary. Take it off the sheet because it doesn’t matter. Because it’s just no value to it. It’s a reactionary type of management." That's Ohio State AD Smith to the Board of Trustees’ Talent and Compensation Committee during a meeting last Thursday. Of note, OSU FB HC Meyer made $6.431M last year, per USA Today. (link)
#8: TCU Swim & Dive HC Busch has been placed on administrative leave. (link)
#7: Another day, more news from Louisville as Senior Assoc. AD for Development Jurich, Assoc. AD for Marketing Waldron & Assoc. AD for Human Resource Maffet have been dismissed in budget-tightening measures. Former AD Jurich says the moves are in retaliation to his leadership tenure. Interim AD Tyra points to "an opportunity for me to look at the needs of the department and how we can be more efficient with the senior staff. [...] We are splicing positions and creating some new ones." Pretty eye-opening list of key roles currently open in the Cards department now include top spots in Finance, Development, Marketing, HR, Student Life & significant sport oversight responsibilities. Jurich, a former Cards Baseball letter winner, via Twitter, "It is with great sadness that I let you know I was asked to leave UofL today. I want to thank the thousands of friends I have made as a student-athlete, administrator and fan. While the past 3 months have been difficult, nothing will change my love for this amazing University." (linklink)
#6: Colorado State MBB student-athletes boycotted practice Thursday as they look for answers from department leaders on the status of suspended HC Eustachy. "(Players) have to find out through you guys (in the media), and they are sick of it." (link); The Denver Post's Stephens reports the end is near with Eustachy. Per Stephens' source, "We can’t give a guy a zero-tolerance policy in 2014, have the conduct continue in 2018 and then just give him another warning." Rams AD Parker: "Our collections of data to inform the assessment is nearly complete, pending our conversation with Coach Eustachy. Coach Eustachy and his representatives are unable to meet with us until early next week. The University intends to resolve this as soon as possible." (link)
#5: Ugly allegations continue to be pushed by a former close friend of Georgia Tech MBB HC Pastner. This time it's an alleged sexual assault. After Thursday night's game at Louisville, Pastner vehemently denied all the claims & called them a "complete lie." Via Pastner's attorney, "There was no sexual assault. It is a lie. Josh never acted improperly with Ms. Pendley. Never. [...] Josh will continue to prosecute his legal claims against Mr. Bell and Ms. Pendley, and we will continue to cooperate with law enforcement in their investigations of the couple." (linklinklink)
#4: Former UConn FB student-athlete & NFL quarterback Orlovsky says his comments about the state of the Huskies & AD Benedict were supposed to be off the record. However, The Metro reporter Burke disagrees, "I explained to him where I was working now — I'm a UConn grad so I used to interview him back in the day — asked him if he was done playing football and all that, and then we started talking about the state of UConn athletics. Let's just say I didn't have to pry. He was very open with his thoughts." Huskies Baseball HC Penders says there's nothing to the report that he's interested in becoming AD. (link)

#2: Longtime Davidson AD Murphy will slide into the campus role of Senior Adviser to the President for Finance & Operations starting on July 1 of this year. Murphy: "The timing is right. This is a terrific opportunity to continue helping Davidson after seeing the college reach so many new heights. I am proud of all we have done and eager to continue moving Davidson forward in new ways."
