National Standards Accreditation

The Branch County Community Foundation is working on submitting documents and supporting information for the Council on Foundations' 2017 National Standards Accreditation.

The National Standards Accreditation represents operational effectiveness to foster excellence in community philanthropy.  Community Foundations throughout the country participate to show evidence of excellence, accountability, impact, and distinction.

Through the peer review, the Branch County Community Foundation will be evaluated in the following areas:
  • legal compliance
  • structure and governance
  • resource development
  • accountability (transparency)
  • grant making, and community engagement
New Grant Cycles

The Community Foundation has established two competitive grant cycles for the 2017 Fiscal Year.  The Spring Grant Cycle will be open for submission from January 1 to January 31, 2017; these grant applications must be youth related, and/or have youth involved in the writing of the grant.  The Fall Grant Cycle will be open for submission from August 1 through August 31, 2017; this grant cycle is our "Community Good" General Grants.  Some of the categories included could be (but not limited to): education, health, neighborhoods, community engagement, environment, and prosperity.

Our Scholarship grant applications will open on December 1, 2016 and must be submitted by March 3, 2017.

If you are interested in submitting a grant, we strongly recommend meeting with our staff to discuss the project.  You may contact us at 517.278.4571 or via email at: info@BrCoFoundation.org
Staff Attends State Conference

Our staff is headed to Ypsilanti next week to attend the Council of Michigan Foundations' 44th annual conference.  This is the largest statewide philanthropy conference in the nation!

This year's conference theme, Think Boldly. Act Urgently. challenges attendees to shake up the status quo, think bigger, act quicker, do better for the communities and individuals served.  With increasingly urgent issues pressing our state and nation - our school systems, the Flint water crises, access to healthcare, to name just a few - philanthropy is being called on to think boldly and act urgently now more than ever before.

We're excited to share what they learn and what we can implement!
