FOR EMPLOYERS: ACCESSING THE "OPPORTUNITIES FUND FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES" Canada's Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities (OppsFund.ca)can assist employers willing to hire and train a disabled person by providing a wage subsidy of up to 50% of an employee's salary, for up to 24 weeks (a typical training period). In recognition of Mental Health Week (May 6-12) and to spark dialogue around the universal issue of anxiety, the library has partnered with Elphinstone Secondary School to host two screenings of the documentary film, Angst.
The school will host a screening during the day for some of its students, while the library will host an evening screening on May 24 to enable parents, professionals, and other youth to view the film. Because "anxiety is the precursor to so many mental health challenges," the filmmakers hope that by "opening a dialogue and normalizing (not trivializing) anxiety, we can help each other and ourselves".
