WASHINGTON, DC -- As calls for independence echoed throughout the continent of Africa, activists would proclaim from the streets: “A LUTA CONTINUA!” meaning “the struggle continues.”

SimplyZinhle Productions, in partnership with Gallery 102, present "A LUTA CONTINUA," a culminating Master's art exhibition highlighting the complexities of human struggles across the globe, through visual and performance art. This transmedia gallery takes audiences through the sights and sounds of the world’s struggle – from the streets of Ferguson and the mountains of South Africa. The exhibition exists in five segments, reflecting the stages of life: bloom, growing pains, resistance, truth and reflection and redemption.

Zinhle Essamuah owns and operates SimplyZinhle Productions. The company produces creative content that challenges and inspires audiences through visual and digital storytelling. Essamuah is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, artist and multimedia shooter and producer. Her works include the critically-acclaimed film, Hands Up, a documentary following the #BlackLivesMatter movement from Ferguson to Baltimore. The gallery will feature a sneak peek of her newest film, The Minority Vote -- a documentary film following minority, millennial voters during the 2016 Presidential Election. Essamuah graduates this May with an M.A. in Media and Strategic Communication with a concentration in Documentary Filmmaking.

A LUTA CONTINUA includes the visual and performance artworks of nearly twenty artists, including Randi Gloss, founder of GLOSSRAGS and the signature "And Counting" Collection of apparel. Through GLOSSRAGS Media Co., Randi is working to produce meaningful media focused on telling critical, unheard narratives of Black Americans. Her work is featured in Fast Company, Complex, The Fader, Essence, Nylon Magazine and other publications.
