What’s happening at Nectar in August

New Edinburgh House on the Market !!

As you are aware, the Nectar Board and Staff have worked hard to reduce the size and scope of programming to a more manageable size as the organization embarks on its transition to the next phase. Part of this transition requires that New Edinburgh House be placed on the market and we hope that a satisfactory offer will not be too long in coming.

Meanwhile the Nectar Transition Advisory Committee (formally called the Nectar Task Force) has been meeting regularly and will be making recommendations to the Nectar board by the early fall, regarding the road forward for the organization. The committee has representation from all 3 community groups but we welcome anyone with an interest in contributing to the discussion. Please contact Chris Straka chris@straka.ca

This past year NECA created a New Edinburgh Program Needs Survey. In the fall it will be distributed to the entire New Edinburgh community, but meanwhile we ask  Friends of Nectar (you!) to visit
EN: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NewEdsurvey_English
FR: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/sondageNewEd_Francais
and complete the survey now. Your valuable feedback will assist in determining what people want in the way of a programming in the future.

For our many participants the good news is that numerous activities will continue in the House for as long as possible.  MELT, Figure Drawing & Painting Workshop, Acrylic and Oil Painting, Nectar Community Choir and Monkey Rock Music have all confirmed for the fall session. Some of the music teachers are moving next door to Mackay United Church.

The Community Garden is flourishing, and children continue to enjoy our delightful front garden.

The After School Program and Playgroup will hopefully be relocating to the Field House in Stanley Park. Please contact Chris Straka for more details. chris@straka.ca
This year The Lumiere Festival will be held on Saturday August 26th from 5:00pm to 10:00pm in the Rockcliffe Park Village Green (next to the public school).  Please contact John at stagiaire.devcom@crcrr.org as there are multiple volunteer positions still available and we encourage you to involve your family and friends to help turn the Jubilee Garden into a magical wonderland of light. Look for posters around the neighbourhood for more details, or visit the Lumiere website at lumiereottawa.ca
