Mental health is a focus of the world’s attention. It is also a priority area for education. Over the past four years, the UBC Faculty of Education has worked closely with provincial education partners (BC School Superintendents, BC Teachers’ Federation, BC Principals and Vice Principals, BC School Counsellors) as well as BC Children’s Hospital, Foundry BC and Ministries of Education and Mental Health & Addictions in providing mental health literacy in-service teacher development across the province. Led by Dr. Wendy Carr and our Professional Development unit (PDCE), the Faculty has become a hub for pre-service and in-service teacher learning, equipping educators with the knowledge and skills they need to address youth mental health needs.
