Our EU Green Deal publication released in September triggered a lot of feedback, so much that we were asked to develop it further in terms. SCIP database version 2.0 available 

According to ECHA, users can soon start searching the database by SCIP number. They will start processing data submitted in simplified SCIP notifications (SSNs) progressively from December 2021. This will allow users to search using SCIP numbers that are referencing to other notifications. Due to the high volume, processing this data might take some time. The new version also has many other improvements related, for example, to the search functionalities. Read more... 

BPIE document on deep renovation 

The paper “Deep Renovation: Shifting from exception to standard practice in EU Policy” investigates what deep renovation is, and dives into ways to define it, based on an overview of national examples and existing concepts, where key parameters are outlined. Deep renovation is a multidimensional concept but guided by one overarching principle: the need to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. It sets a path for every building to be climate proof. Development and implementation of digital building logbooks 

In November, the European Commission published a tender related to building logbooks, the deadline for application is set on 8th December. We will ensure that the winning tender understands the importance of product data templates and aligns with our recommended approach. Read more...

European construction roadmap public consultation 

Following the September meeting of the European Commission High-Level Construction Forum, and subsequent Cluster Group meetings, DG GROW had announced an online public consultation. This has not yet been launched but we are told that all is being done to publish it before the end of the year. Read more...

The European Commission published a document describing new EU rules on waste shipments to support a clean and circular economy in the context of the EU Green Deal. Read more... 

CEN/TC 350 plenary meeting

Last 25th November, the plenary meeting of CEN/TC 350 took place online. It was the first meeting of Dieter De Lathauwer as chairman of the group. In addition to the usual report about the work done, the chair initiated a lively discussion about the role of the standards developed by the group in the regulatory context and also the documents to be developed and how they could support the achievement of the European goals as regards environment.
