Spring Greetings to you all!
Can you locate Bangkok and Manila?

Our year started off less busy than usual, which was great, bit it has quickly picked up and Bill is on the move again!

Bangkok, Thailand, for OM’s annual international leadership meetings (ILM) was his first international destination for this year. There were over 400 leaders, board members, a major donors from over 100 nationalities present from across the movement gathered together in times of plenary meetings, working group sessions, worship and prayer, specialized seminars, and one-on-one meetings with other senior leaders.
This year's theme was "Lift Up Your Eyes" from John 4:35. Surely, the fields ARE ripe for harvest!
It's always an encouraging place to go and meet with fellow OM leaders and learn about what's going on in the OM world, especially in the least reached and hard to reach places.  In fact, one of our workers in a closed country said that two local Muslim leaders recently came to their church and asked them to pray (!) for their country, as their prayers (to Allah) don't seem to be working to help the country. Literally, thousands of Muslims in another country are coming to know Jesus and the God of the Bible—in spite of significant persecution—through visions and dreams. In one story from central Asia, a Muslim man came into a local church and stated that a man in white had just appeared to him on a train and told him to “get off at the next stop” and go to that particular Christian  Church “and they will tell you about Me.” He received Christ that day! Be encouraged, for God is clearly at work!

From there Bill went to Manilla in the Philippines to discuss the pilot of Catalytic Training Hubs in the East-Asia region. Long-term, the vision is that workers can come to be trained with skills that will assist their fields in better reaching those who have little to no Gospel witness.  It is this particular trip we would like to share about more in-depth with you.

Following are some of Bill's thoughts: "Recently my co-worker and I visited Palawan, Philippines.  We were taken around by the OM Field Leader, Sally Ababa and her uncle Victor, seeing, feeling, and tasting the “full arc of the story” when it comes to the apostolic church planting that is happening here amongst the local tribal peoples; seeing first-hand the crucial role holistic mission plays in bringing transformation by planting VCJFs (Vibrant Communities of Jesus Followers) amongst the least reached.

We started by seeing some awesome 'fruit': Ethnos, a Tribal Missions Training Center of OM Philippines run by Pastor Philip and his wife, Levy.  People come to grow in their knowledge of the Word, understanding of their faith, and the tribal ways so that they can effectively reach out and hopefully plant churches among them.  Done in a holistic manner which involves the whole community, lives are impacted and transformed as the entire community is uplifted.

Getting to the remote Training center was “different”.  We went from a very small Suzuki van, to being chauffeured on a motorcycle, to walking.  (Bill isn’t pictured because he was taking the pictures!)
My co-worker, Todd and I shared this accommodation.
I "let" Todd sleep in the top bunk!

Once settled in our accommodation, we were given the tour to see some awesome ‘fruit’ of the ministry and hard work there in this tribal village.  Hopefully this will become more of a Catalytic Training Hub!

There is a farm where OM Philippines trains young tribal leaders in how to do community development and be self- sustainable. It includes water collection and management, planting crops, animal husbandry, building, sustaining, etc. The farm is called Ethnos, and it is run by Pastor Philip and his wife, Levy

Here is Bill trying to fit in with the culture!  On the left he is digging out a coconut, eating and drinking the sweetness of it and he said this one
WAS sweet!

What's Happening next...
Presently he is in South Africa (Pretoria and Capetown) doing a myriad of things; speaking at the OM team retreat, encouraging them, having strategic meetings with his Catalytic ministries based there (four of them), giving a music concert, preaching at a very large church in both services, and probably eating good food and enjoying the Aftican hospitality!

Prayer Requests
  • We never want to to take safety and protection for granted regardless of where we are; home town, plane, foreign countries etc. we ask for continued protection wherever the Lord has us.
  • Continued good health for both of us; another thing we don't want to take for granted!
  • Continued ability to hear the Holy Spirit and follow his leading.
Thanksgiving for
  • The blessing of being able to serve the Lord in various capacities
  • Godly grown children and a smart and fun grandson
  • Friends and family who support us
  • Countless other things...
I, Teresa , have been busy with a variety of things.  As you can see, Bill travels quite a lot and that is something he really enjoys doing, for the most part.  My role is to support him and part of that means to stay at home and keep things going there.  I have found myself offering a lot of hospitality these days, including overnight stays of other missionaries, friends and family.  Along with mentoring a few young women, keeping things at home ticking along, I am enjoying helping out with Micah.  We have a great relationship already and he is only 15 months old!
I will be making some trips with Bill a bit later on this year which I'm sure will be awesome!
A Big Thank-You for the years of prayer and financial giving that many of you have given!

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

1Corinthians 15:58

We are all in this together, one can not be effective without the other, so thank you for your partnership with us!
