DAY 2: Thursday 13 October
The World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders continues. Today, local and regional leaders have once again shown their commitment to the Right to the City for all. More than 200 mayors from across the world, around 2000 participants including urban experts, civil society and academia, have participated in the second day of the largest summit of local leaders. Attendees have taken part in workshops, learning forums, policy dialogues and various exchanges at the Network Hub.
The central session of the day has been the Plenary "Links between the 2030 Agenda and the New Urban Agenda". The session explored how, in just one year time, the international community has been able to adopt three ambitious agendas that influence the daily work of local governments: the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the imminent New Urban Agenda. The participants highlighted the effort made by local and regional governments to influence the final draft of these agendas.
