Piranha Motors - Buy 5, Get One Free

Piranha motors have been more popular than ever in the last few months, as racers discover that they're affordable quality motors, with a smoother power delivery and enough power to replace most stock motors in many cars.

If you've already tried them, you know you want more. And that's why I now have a large number of those motors ready to ship. Fans of the Slot Car Corner Canada Facebook page already know that when you buy 5 Piranha motors, I will add a 6th motor for free to your order, the equivalent of a 20% discount. Take advantage of this deal while it lasts.

Price Reduction On Most Products

Our Canadian dollar has regained some strength in the recent weeks and even though most of my current inventory has been bought under a less favorable exchange rate, I will keep my promise to you and never take advantage of the currency situation to keep pricing higher than it should be.

That's why the pricing of most products bought from American distributors has been reduced to reflect the recent change in the exchange rate. And that's very good news for your slot racing budget!

Slot Racers Giving Back !

The 6th Annual Michigan 24 Hour Endurance race is just around the corner – this year’s race will be held from April 15-17, 2016. And you know that the Slot Car Corner racing team is always there, having fun with friends, trying to win the race, trying to beat the world record (again!), and testing our own products in real-life racing conditions.

In addition to the world-class racing, a hallmark of this event is the «Slot Racers Giving Back» fundraising for charity. You can purchase tickets online and ticket numbers will be updated and posted regularly throughout the course of the event. Tickets are $1 each (Slot Car Corner Canada will take care of the exchange rate for all its Canadian customers).

A complete list of prizes from charity sponsors will also be published and updated regularly on the Home Racing World forum. The total value of the prizes will be several thousand dollars. We’ve already started lining up sponsors and prizes – there are a lot of GREAT prizes! A partial list of sponsors includes:

If you are interested in donating a prize for the raffle, please let us know.

The deadline to purchase tickets online will be Sunday, April 17th at Noon ET. A final list of contributors and tickets will then be published.

In the past, a traditional drawing was held at the end of the event – the drawing was time-consuming and required considerable effort to keep track of winners and their prizes. At this year’s event, we will “draw” prize winners electronically (randomly) and post results sometime Sunday afternoon.

As in previous years, 100% of the charity raffle proceeds will be donated to actual charities. The total raffle proceeds will be split equally 6 ways – each of the 6 teams participating in this year’s event will then donate their share to a charity of their choice.

You can now buy your raffle tickets from Slot Car Corner Canada right here. Please consider making a donation - $1, $5, $10 or whatever you can afford would be GREATLY appreciated!

Prizes Donated by Slot Car Corner Canada

Slot Car Corner Canada is really happy and proud to donate a total of $878.39 in prizes for this great fundraising («Slot Racers Giving Back»).

Below, you will find the list of prizes we are giving away. We hope this will fuel your desire to participate, help and show how slot car racers can make a difference for a lot of people! We also invite all our fellow dealers, manufacturers and distributors to contribute. SCC Canada is a small online store in the Great White North. Just imagine what bigger stores south of the border can do...

Policar Lotus 72 - Almost Here. Finally !

The Policar Lotus 72. It was supposed to be available in April 2015. And we've been waiting all this time, while our friends in Europe were able to get theirs a few months ago. Unfortunately for them, they got an imperfect car, as a problem with the rear axle was discovered soon after the first shipments. The problem has now been fixed, the car was finally delivered to the North American distributor around March 10th and I will be able to ship this fabulous car to all my customers around March 27th.

If you have pre-ordered the car, I will contact you for payment and/or shipment details. If not, I will still have some left in stock after all pre-orders have shipped so you can get yours too. Just don't wait too long, as it will probably fly off the shelves pretty fast, even if I have ordered more boxes of this car than any other car in the history of Slot Car Corner Canada.

The Ultimate Checklist - Updated Version

Building, preparing and tuning a slot car for a race is a fun part of the hobby. Some people just like to add some lubrication and change their tires before going to a race. Others want their car to be the best it can be.

For those people, we have created The Ultimate Checklist for tuning a slot car. If you go through this list every time you’re preparing a car for a local club race or a long proxy race, we can’t promise you’ll win every race but you’ll certainly have one of the best handling cars on the track.

SCC Canada Proxy Race - Rounds 4, 5 and 6

Things are going fast and there were three rounds that were ran since the last newsletter came out only five weeks ago.

Round 4 of the SCC Canada Proxy 2016 was completed in Picton ON, on the Lake-on-the-Mountain race track, hosted by our good friend Bob Chapman. The results were surprising on this layout full of long straights and many participants saw a big change to their usual position in the standings. Keith Hines (BC) won this round and Ron Todhunter (AB) finished in 2nd place, taking the lead in the cumulative standings after Round 4, just ahead of Benoit Harvey (QC).

Round 5 took place in Toronto ON at Race Haven Hobbies and John C. Bassett took charge of the organization of this round. The big surprise for the running of this race was the presence of the car designer himself, Ernie Mosetti, from MR Slotcar. Benoit Harvey (QC) won this round to take back its first place in the cumulative standing, just 16 meters ahead of Ron Todhunter (AB).

Round 6 was run at the Spare Time Hobbies track in Winnipeg MB, with the generous help of Robert Maskiew and Paul Gage. Benoit, with its very-well prepared car, won again to increase its lead on Ron in the cumulative standings.

What's interesting is that the Top 5 positions are occupied by cars from five different provinces, even though BC owns the next 3 positions. But with 4 other rounds to go in Western Canada, this race is still up for grabs for a lot of car owners. Stay tuned!

For the complete results and more information, see the Canada Slot Car forum.

Difalco Resistor Networks - Customize Your Controller

Many racers now use Difalco controllers and find them to be precise, fast and smooth. I have tried, tested and used many controllers in the last 15 years but I always go back to my trusty Difalco 30-band controllers when it's time to have serious fun and win races. But did you know that your 30-band controller can be customized and give you even more control?

The resistor network you see on the back of the controller circuit board can be replaced and you can even buy an «empty» version that you can customize to create the ideal power curve. Changing the resistor network is similar to changing the transmission in a car. It won't give you more power but it will change the way the power is delivered to your car depending on how much the trigger is depressed on the controller.

You can buy Standard resistor networks: from 148 ohms (sensitive) to 377 ohms (less sensitive). The stock resistor network is 290 ohms.

You can also buy Custom Design resistor networks. Two models are available, each one of them containing different little resistors to build your power curve. See the product description to choose the one that will best suit your driving style.

Since I have built my custom resistor network three years ago, I have found that even though my cars don't go faster, I'm much more comfortable driving them around the track. It will make a difference for you too.

The Largest Slot. It Inventory in Canada

If you're looking for a part you need, there's a good chance Slot Car Corner Canada has it in stock, as we have the largest inventory of products in Canada. A few days ago, a jumbo-sized box of parts came in to add thousands of dollars worth of inventory on the website's virtual shelves. We now have over $30,000 of parts and cars in stock. Click on the logo on the right to see the full list of available parts. If we don't have what you're looking for, don't hesitate to contact me and I'll see what I can do. Of course, there's also a long list of cars ready to be shipped.

A New Slot Car Magazine - Made in Canada

Slot car racing is alive and well in Alberta, mainly in the Edmonton area, where a nice group of racers is having fun with their GETCARS club track and other tracks around the city. Ronald Todhunter has decided to take this one step further and create a new online magazine called Slot Car Mods, «everybody's slot car magazine».

The first official edition of the magazine will be released in just a few days on March 20, 2016. To make sure you don't miss the first issue, you just have to go to the Slot Car Mods website and subscribe. It's completely free and you get your money back if you're not satisfied (!), no questions asked.

Super Tires - CRAZY Pricing for Bulk Purchases !

You already know that I'm not restocking Super Tires, because Quick Slicks silicone tires and Paul Gage urethane tires can produce similar or better results for much less money.

This is why you have been able to buy Super Tires at clearance prices all summer long ($5/pair instead of the MSRP of over $10/pair). Over 500 pairs found a new home this way and I now need to get rid of the almost 1300 pairs left in inventory.

You'll be able to get reduced pricing if you buy large quantities of Super Tires in bulk*.

If you buy over 100 pairs, pricing will go down to $4/pair.
If you buy over 250 pairs, pricing will go down to $3/pair.

Of course, that's WAY lower than the cost for those tires. Dealer purchases are welcome, of course. This clearance pricing is valid on available inventory only. First come, first serve. Get your club members together and grab those tires before they're all gone.

* Tires won't be packaged individually. Each size will be put into a small resealable bag with the model number written on the bag.
