Slot Car Corner Canada

We offer high-quality products for 1/32 slot racers. Our reputation is built around great service and our customers often become friends. We're passionate about slot car racing and we want to share our enthusiasm with you.

Let's have some serious fun racing toy cars !

Keeping In Touch

Summer is almost here. For some slot racers, the warm season is a time to get out of the track room and do something else. For others, it means more time to play with their cars and more time to finish all those incomplete projects on the bench.

Whatever your schedule, Slot Car Corner Canada will be here for your slot car needs. This is the last regular newsletter for the season but it will be back in September.
Have a great summer!
You are receiving this newsletter because you are a wonderful Slot Car Corner Canada customer. This means you made a purchase or created an account on our website. See the link at the bottom of the newsletter to be removed from our list or to update your subscription information.

Avant Slot Cars and Parts

In our last newsletter, I talked about adding some Avant Slot products to my inventory, as the brand's North American distribution has changed and I can now carry their products. I've had a few requests and some interest was there. This is why I added some of the cars to the website and we'll see how it goes.

With a new reduced pricing, Avant Slot cars have become much more interesting. For only $59, you'll get a car with performance parts throughout, standard-sized alloy wheels at the rear, a motor pod, adjustable front axles, a powerful Boxer-style motor, a stiff chassis and light bodies. They can certainly keep up with the best racing cars out there. Try them and see! See pictures and links to the cars towards the end of this newsletter.

Harry, from Home Racing World, also wrote a thorough review of the Avant Slot Mirage cars. Go read it!

The new anglewinder aluminium motor pod is also a great addition to their lineup, and will certainly help to eliminate the all-too-common «anglewinder hop».

Paul Gage Tires - Now 87 Different Models !

A few weeks ago, I received a big shipment of Paul Gage Tires, both in Standard and Extreme compounds. This order included 14 new models, featuring the enormous tires for the Carrera Can-Am Porsche 917 and McLaren M20. Paul Gage tires are urethane tires that work well on a variety of surfaces, are very affordable at $4/pair and are made right here in Canada. You can't go wrong with those tires.

I now have a grand total of 87 models of Paul Gage tires in both compounds. And they're all in stock. If you can't find a Paul Gage tire for a car you have in your collection, take a second look because it probably exists. To help you find the right tire for your cars, I invite you to use our ever-growing Tire Selectors. And if your car is not on the list, just use a caliper, take some measurements on the wheel (width, diameter, center rib width and height, etc.) and send me an email. Together, we'll find the right Paul Gage tires for your needs.

Super Tires Clearance

Slot Car Corner Canada has been, since its debut, the best place (and mostly the only place!) in Canada to get Super Tires. Available in urethane and silicone, Super Tires are very good tires and we have won many races with them.

But I now have to make the difficult decision to clear the current inventory of Super Tires (I have close to 2,000 pairs in stock right now!). There are four main reasons for that:

  1. More and more Quick Slicks silicone tires are being introduced.
  2. Paul Gage urethane tires are more popular than ever and new models come out fast.
  3. Super Tires are more expensive ($9/pair, compared to $6/pair and $4/pair).
  4. Inventory management is becoming difficult with all those different tires.
More than 90% of the orders I currently get for Super Tires are for cars and wheels that are covered by the Paul Gage and Quick Slicks model list (and more models are always on the way). The Quick Slicks Firm compound tires are now available for all CB Design wheel sizes and for many popular cars on the market. As for Paul Gage tires, the wide variety of available sizes almost guarantees that a compatible tire can be found for most cars and wheels. I don't think it makes sense to pay $9/pair when you can get basically the same results for $4 or $6/pair. If you haven't yet tried Quick Slicks or Paul Gage tires to replace Super Tires, now is the perfect time !

In that context, all currently in-stock Super Tires (all 2,000 pairs of them!) will be sold at $5/pair until the inventory is gone (MSRP in CA$ is over $10). There will be no restock of Super Tires.
Act fast. When they're gone, they're gone.

The inventory shown on the website should be correct but please keep in mind that there may be some discrepancies. Of course, I'll keep you informed if your order can't be fulfilled entirely.

SCC Canada Proxy Race - Round 2

The all-Canadian proxy race, using Canadian products (MR Slotcar cars, CB Design wheels, Paul Gage tires), for Canadian racers on Canadian tracks is now 2 races old. 24 slot car racers all across the country prepared a MR Slotcar Mazda 787B and they have raced in Québec QC and Cornwall ON so far. Follow the race right here at

Round 2 took place on the famous Autodrome Raceway, in Cornwall ON, home of a variety of very interesting little people. As it's expected in every proxy race, the results were a little different from the first round in Québec QC, even if the Top 10 cars were pretty much the same. Leon Luke, from Edmonton BC, won Round 2 with Chris «F1Fan» from BC taking 2nd place. There was a 3-way perfect tie in third place with Benoit (QC), Chris (ON) and Robert (BC). John, from Toronto, took 6th place, only a tenth of a lap behind 3rd place. Talk about a close race! Benoit Harvey is still in the lead in the cumulative standing but Leon is breathing hard down his neck. Click on the table below to see the full results of Round 2. Click on Enzo Ferrari's picture (above) to read the full story of Round 2. Yes, Enzo was there to spy on the Mazda 787B's progress.

The cars are now headed to Winnipeg MB for Round 3 on the gorgeous SpareTime Hobbies track that reproduces the famous Suzuka layout almost to perfection.

If you missed the race but want to experiment running this great Canadian car, I still have them in stock and I also have many parts available if you want to tune the car to your own preferences. Many and Slot Car Corner parts are also compatible with MR Slotcar cars. If you prefer not to paint the car yourself, the black Test Car is still available in large quantities at a reduced price (almost $15 off the retail price!).

CanAm Proxy Race - Round 7

Slot Car Corner Canada's Circuit Courville was also the host of Round 7 for the CanAm Proxy Race. This proxy race was created 8 years ago by Van LaPointe, from Toronto, as a way to race 1/32-scale versions of real cars that raced 40 years ago all over the world. Cars travel around North America, with 10 races in Canada and the US. Three classes are represented (Prototype, GT and GTU). In total, 32 cars are participating this year in the race.

After a qualification session for Round 7, the cars were separated into 8 groups of 4 cars, from the slowest to the fastest. Then, each car was driven for 3 minutes on each of the 4 lanes. The total distance for each car was used to determine the final results. In the end, Mike Chiocchio's NSR GT40 (CT) finished first on Circuit Courville. The GT40 built by yours truly, Christian Gingras (QC), finished in second place, just ahead of a 2-way tie for 3rd place between Chris (BC) and Jason (GA), who respectively built a Matra MS670B (see picture) and another Ford GT40.

(click on the image below for the full results for round 7)

If you never participated in a proxy before, this is a great way to learn tuning secrets and how to make your cars easier to drive. This is truly a wonderful way to share the slot car passion!

Credit Card Payment - Now PayPal-Free (if you want!)

We've always accepted credit cards via the PayPal payment page. But we learned recently that some people don't trust PayPal with their credit card number. That's why we're now offering direct credit card payment for all your orders. VISA, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.

Of course, you can also continue to use PayPal, as this is also a very easy and secure way of paying for your orders. And don't forget that Purolator shipping is offered for about the same cost as Canada Post.

New Pricing - Slot.It Cars

Pricing for cars has been fluctuating in the last few years, with a change in the official retail pricing (MSRP) and also big changes in the Canadian dollar value.

I've decided to simplify things for everyone by lowering the overall pricing and by making it the same for all cars, whether they have been released before or after the MSRP changes. See the new pricing below (MSRP in brackets, in CA$). All white kit cars are now $54 ($68), all regular cars are now $68 ($87), Special Editions cars are $75 ($94) and new 4WD cars are $80 ($100).

Of course, if the value of our dollar changes significantly, pricing will be adjusted accordingly.

Race Coordinator - Feature-Rich and FREE

If you're looking for a feature-rich timing software program for your track, search no more.

I have been using Trackmate hardware and software for the last 15 years, from the DOS version to the latest Windows version. It was always reliable and did what it was supposed to do: count laps and keep track of the lap times. For me, the most important aspect of TrackMate has always been the simple and uncluttered race screen, with big bold numbers, names and colors.

Recently, I wanted a little more from my timing software. I wanted to keep perfect reliability but also some added flexibility in how the races were run (heats, points, driver seeding, etc.) and more data from the race for post-race analysis. And I decided to give Race Coordinator a chance, after hearing about it for about a year by a good friend in Montréal.

Race Coordinator is free and so feature-rich, it will take you weeks to discover all the options. The interface is not exactly intuitive but once you learn how it works, you will find your way around pretty easily. For me, the big advantage was the possibility of customizing the practice and race screens, the leader board, etc. And the fact that the spreadsheet created by the program after a race contains absolutely all the data you will ever need for post-race analysis.

It will also work with most timing hardware on the market. For instance, I had absolutely nothing to do in order for RC to recognize my TrackMate timing hardware. And I've read that it will be the same with the vast majority of timing hardware products on the market.

On the Race Coordinator website, you'll see the screens that come standard with the software. Below, you will see some of the screens that I have customized for our annual 24-hour race in Connecticut. The possibilities are almost endless. Give Race Coordinator a try, you'll like it!

The software is free but please consider making a donation to the charity identified by Dave, the creator of Race Coordinator.

Roller Test Bench

This Roller Test Bench (see picture on the right) is hand-made right here in Québec by a friend. It features a precision aluminium roller to test your car.

The adjustable stopper allows the use of cars of different lengths. The copper braid used on the test bench is high-quality track braid from Slot Car Corner. Banana plugs and wires are included. Power supply and cars not included.

This tool is perfect to make sure your car is perfectly balanced and tuned before you put it on the track. It's also great for checking the roundness of your wheels/tires and for running in motors and gears. I've been using one for a few years now and it's a very useful tool to have around the track.

Please understand those are hand-made, making each unit unique and a little different from all others. My friend Jean-Pierre, the builder of those test benches, is a machinist by trade and works very meticously but small cosmetic defects can be found on some units. I currently have 3 units in stock. If demand is there, I will ask Jean-Pierre to do more.

Clearance Items - Great Deals !

Along with all Super Tires that are in clearance, the «old» square versions of the «new» rounded shoulders models are also at clearance pricing. has also released a revised LMP Screw Mount Guide and now has lightened spur gears. We also have bags of older tires that need to find a good home. This is where our Clearance Items section can be useful for you. You will find great deals if using the next-to-last version of a product is not essential to your project.

Here's a list of new cars that weren't on our shelves when our last newsletter was sent out in April. We also have gotten back in stock a lot of other cars from, Racer and SRC.

We also hope to receive the first MR Slotcar McLaren F1 GTR cars in the next few weeks, starting with the «Contender» series. Let's cross our fingers, this release has been delayed way too many times already.

Of course, we also have a lot more cars in stock so feel free to browse our inventory to find the one that will catch your eye and/or make you the next race winner in your club! Click here for the complete list.
