The Party

We are proud to announce that this year's prize has raised over £40,000 for charity!

The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday night last week and with over 200 guests we celebrated the winners, the funds raised and this year's exhibition. The quality of photography exhibited this year has been exceptionally high, and the winning images were selected from nearly 7000 photographs entered.

Here are some photos from the night:

The Auction Print

This year's auction print was kindly donated by Getty Images Gallery and auctioned off on the night of the awards ceremony to raise money for the Lavender Trust. The photograph was a signed limited edition by the British photojournalist Thurston Hopkins. We are pleased to say that the winning bid on the night reached £850. Thank you for bidding.

The Portfolio Review

©Monica Takvam

The Portfolio Review attracted a lot of interest this year, and we sold out all the initial appointments within 24 hours. We added more, but still had a waiting list.

Emma Bowkett from FT Weekend Magazine, Simon Bainbridge from British Journal of Photography and Miranda Gavin from Hotshoe were among a number of respected critics and experts who gave freely of their time to give advice to the review participants. With over 20 participants, lots of work shared and feedback given, it was a very successful day!

"I found the review very helpful and inspirational. I really appreciated receiving constructive critique and advise, and it has made me think more enthusiastically about the future. I also feel more prepared for working and showing work to potential clients. I would like to thank the organiser and the reviewers for this opportunity, it was very helpful and friendly".
Marta Kochanek, portfolio review participant 2014

Fees paid for these review slots are being donated to the Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care.
