Hello, and welcome to the June Newsletter. Summer's here, woot-woot. :)

Thanks, everyone for subscribing to and reading my monthly newsletters. If you're new or missed any editions, you can always catch up by visiting the Archive Page.

What's New With Us

This June has been one of the best weather wise as far back as I can remember on Vancouver Island. Many years I have referred to it as Junuary with the bulk of its days being cool and cloudy with lots of wet stuff. Not this year, Plenty of sun and warmth. Short pants have been the norm.

It's only the last day or two that has seen any serious precipitation, and we are actually kind of thankful to have it.  The beautiful west coast forests are bone dry, raising the wildfire threat.
Both Anne and I are enjoying capturing the local wildlife in our camera sights. Anne has recently acquired a new taller tripod with a gimbal head to support her large telephoto lenses. Check her out on Instagram or Facebook to see some of her latest work.
The Sony AX53 camcorder I bought last summer has worked fabulously for wildlife videos and photos. With its 30X zoom and excellent image stabilization, I'm able to get much closer to my subjects. It's a fine video camera but has also worked out surprisingly well as a still camera.
It hasn't been all sitting around in my shorts looking at wildlife though, I've been extremely busy with several RV maintenance chores and multiple new RV product reviews, with more in the pipeline.

When we travel all winter, it's difficult to receive packages, so they sort of pile up waiting till I'm more stationery for the summer.
One review I'm especially looking forward to is for a company out of Utah called Lion Energy. I've just received three of their Safari UT 12V 100AH lithium batteries.

They will be replacing my existing 4 lead-acid golf cart battery bank I installed nearly 4 years ago. You can find my initial introduction video on the LYRV YouTube Channel. Stay tuned for an installation video followed by a full review.

Was recommended this website recently when I posted the video about keeping the RV cool. One viewer suggested a window louver product sold here called the RV Door Window Shade Kit.

I may have to give it a try. It replaces the frosted door glass found in the typical RV entrance door with clear or tinted and a shutter blind.

RVing Tip of the Month

Stop slide room topper from flapping.

Neat little tip recently posted on the LYRV forum by Colibabas.
"I actually saw this 9 years ago at the RV Park we are currently at and finally decided to do it. I used 1" PVC pipe, elbows, and 1/4" rope costing less than $25. I've replaced all of my original toppers myself in the last couple of years and hope this will help them, and the roller tube springs last a little longer. It will at least stop that annoying flapping."
