Hello, and welcome to the July Newsletter.

What's New With Us

July has turned out to be a great month weatherwise, with mostly sunny days and warm temps. Just a few rainy periods here and there to clear the air. Short pants every day!
Thankfully so far this year, wildfire smoke has stayed to the east of us. The natural westerly flow has blown any smoke east, and we have had very few fires on the wetter coast. I feel for the people RVing in the southern interior of BC. Looks pretty bad. https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/
With the extended dry weather, I completed a pair of maintenance tasks I've wanted to do. First, I pulled out and resealed one of the slide windows that sees a lot of water draining off the slide-out roof..
Second I completely resealed the back end of the trailer and repaired some minor wood rot in one of the lower corners.  Overall I was happy to see things didn't look too bad after 10 years, and with the new sealants, I should be good for another.
The old Cougar fifth wheel is looking better than ever, thanks to me using this extended downtime to fix up and maintain a bunch of things. We are so ready to hitch up and hit the road on an extended trip south!

I hear Canada is opening the border to USA citizens for non-essential traveling on August 9th. Hopefully, American officials will do the same at some point soon. If they do, we plan to leave sometime in the second half of September.

In August, I'll be reviewing the Lion Energy Safari ME portable power system. I've been using their Safari UT1300 lithium batteries for 2 years now with good results. I am looking forward to testing out the complete ME deluxe kit that includes folding solar panels and an expansion battery. Stay tuned.
