What's New With Us

Wow, August seemed to fly by! I can feel fall slowly, sneaking up. Days are slightly shorter, and there is a chill in the air most mornings now. Our stay at Thunderbird RV Park in Campbell River BC is winding down with only a week left to go.

It's been another relaxing summer here on the beautiful river estuary. Our 9th in a row. Over the years, it has become our home base. A lovely place to chill out for a few months before we get back on the road again.
This month I was able to refresh the trailer roof coating, getting it all ready for the fall rains. While up there, I also replaced our old OEM Coleman Mach 3 air conditioner with a new Furrion Chill model from Lippert. Cooling capacity went from 13.5K BTU to 14.5K, and so far, it's been a noticeable improvement.
I also got around to installing my new 3000W Motomaster Inverter from Canadian Tire that I picked up on sale in early July. I show how I wired it into my 30 amp Go Power auto transfer switch. Looking forward to testing out the new setup down south for boondocking this winter.
After this Labor Day long weekend, we pull up stakes and head over on the ferry to the BC mainland.
Booked in for a 3-week stay at an RV Park near Powell River on the Sunshine Coast. It will be a new place to check out for us, so stay tuned. :)

Tip of the Month

If you need to repair cracked plastic, I have found a good product called G/flex Thickened Epoxy Adhesive. It's a product from West Systems developed to repair plastic boats such as kayaks.
I've used it successfully to repair cracks on my ABS waste tanks. Still leak-free three years later.  I'm sure it would work well for other stuff around the RV, such as fenders or cowlings. The beauty of it is it is thickened, so it doesn't drip or run away much even when applied upside down. After curing, it stays slightly flexible.
The other day our RV camping neighbor had cracks developed on his black tank after an overfill incident, and I was able to help him out with a pair of patches. They were quite appreciative. :)
