Hello, and welcome to the October Newsletter. Snowbird time has arrived.

What's New With Us

Sorry, the October newsletter is a little late. I ran out of time as we were busy getting ready to depart south for another six-month RV snowbird trip around the USA southwest and back. This will mark our tenth trip to the southwest. Love it!
As I write this, I'm parked in the Port Angeles Walmart after taking yesterday's 4 pm Black Ball ferry from Victoria, BC, across the Juan de Fuca Strait to Washington State.
We had excellent weather for the 1 1/2 hr sailing, mostly sunny with a few clouds and light winds. The cost for our 45 feet rig was $237 USD
The border crossing was quick and uneventful. Border patrol was very friendly. They asked questions about where we planned to go, what food we had, and any tobacco or alcohol. We were also asked to show proof of Covid vaccine. Welcomed into the USA and told to have a great trip!

At this point, it was getting dark around 6 pm, so we drove along the 101 highway for about 15 minutes and to the local Walmart back parking area. It's a good first-night stopover since we need to stock up on some supplies anyway. Today we'll start our trek south. :)
October was highlighted by a pair of camping stints in forest sites near the ocean on opposite sides of the Georgia Strait.
First, a new to us city-run park called Willingdon Beach on Powell River, and second, a return trip to Miracle Beach Provincial Park on Vancouver Island.
We finished up with a short driveway surfing visit at my sister's home in Victoria. All in all a fun month with warmer than average fall weather.
Both were beautiful spots for fall camping. Being the off-season, the vibe was peaceful. For more photos, check out my photo feed on the LYRV forum.

But as lovely as it was, the weather is getting much colder and damper up here in the Pacific Northwest, so looking forward to getting back to the desert. Stay tuned.

Another one of those OTA (over the air) free TV signal finder websites. I like this one for the detailed information and easy-to-use map. I can drag the pointer to exactly where I'm camped and then hit search. Handy for off-grid camping.
