What's New With Us

September saw us leave our usual summertime RV site on the spit in Campbell River and head across the water to the BC mainland for a spell.  In 2018, we took a road trip sans RV visiting the BC Sunshine Coast and always wanted to return with the RV.
So the day after Labor Day, we hooked up and lifted the jacks on the fifth wheel, and off we rolled. We took the Comox to Powell River ferry on a picture-perfect day for a ferry ride. Then a short trip up the coast to the little village of Lund.
We spent three weeks camped at the Sunlund By-The-Sea RV park nestled behind the cute little Lund Marina. It made for a relaxing September. We enjoyed daily walks down to the marina and on the docks chatting to the boat vacationers that came and went.
Anne, as many of you know, loves boats so was in her happy place!
If you're interested, I've just published a blog post about Sunlund RV Park and the views around it. Some video clips of the RV Park, marina, beach and many photos from our stay.
Yesterday we packed up again, moved back south to Powell River, and landed a spot in Willingdon Beach Campground near the ocean. Not as peaceful as Lund, but close to the water and terrific sunsets!

It's a city-run campground set in a forest grove featuring large cedar trees between the highway and the beach. I learned from the staff is a popular place to spend the winter since it's open year round. Powell River winters are fairly mild compared to most of Canada.
It's been nice to stay at some "new to us" campgrounds. We are enjoying the area. Plans are to stay here a couple of weeks, then head back to Vancouver Island for a few more before we point the rig south come November for another season of winter camping in the desert. Stay tuned

Tip of the Month

Hat tip to Lorraine & Greg on the LYRV forum for this important RV safety tip

Regular inspections of moving parts

Another reminder to do inspections on the working parts of your RV. We were recently in Topeka, Indiana, to have Orvan from Amish Family RV do a check on some work we’d had done 10 years ago. He gave Greg some tips for better adjusting our slides, and yesterday, while doing an adjustment,

Greg discovered the slide arm had a split in the end where the bolt goes through. He removed it, cut the end off, and re-drilled a new bolt hole. This could have been a major fail at an inconvenient time.
