What's New With Us
After many months of stagnation, we finally got the wheels rolling for a couple of short camping trips. Being into the fall season now, the frantic vacation crowds have dwindled, making for peaceful getaways.
|
|
First up was Buttle Lake Campground, located about 40 minutes west of our base here on Campbell River in pristine Strathcona Provincial Park. We snagged a prime spot where we could put out our camp chairs and enjoy the view.

While there, I got a chance to test out my new Outland Fire Bowl and Country Smokers electric wood pellet grill. Birthday gifts from my lovely wife. Thumbs up on both!

Later in the month, we trekked a little further afield to give the truck and trailer a decent highway run. We pointed the rig down Island and yarded it 130 kilometers to another BC provincial park called Rathtrevor beach.
We enjoyed some walks in the woods and on the huge breach, plus a nice visit with Anne's dad around the new propane fire pit.

We had some decent weather for our camping trips, but just last week, mother nature gave a preview of what's in store. Temps dropped below freezing and even set a new record low for Oct. 25th in Campbell River of -6.3C (20F), blowing away the old mark of -2.8C (27F) set back in 1978.
I know many of you are laughing, saying that's not cold, but it sure feels chilly to us thin-blooded snowbirds. It was a great chance to test out my new heated freshwater hose. I also have added some 3M film insulation to the bedroom windows.
As we move into November, I'll be getting the EZ Snap RV skirting back on. I video recorded me taking it off and will record the reinstall. I plan to put the footage together as a timelapse video so you can see what's involved. One reason I went with the EZ Snap was the ease of removal and reinstall and compact storage. Stay tuned...
