What's New With Us
December 2019 has been a mixed bag. On the one hand, its been likely the coldest and wettest December we have experienced as snowbirds. But on the other hand, its been visually one of the prettiest. All the moisture and clouds sure liven up the desert landscapes, and boy did we visit some beauties!

The month started with a full week camped at Furnace Creek in the heart of Death Valley National Park. We have visited the park before, but that was later in the year, and it was hot. This visit saw cooler temps and even rain. It made for a truly unique experience.

During the second week, we tracked south and eastward with stays along the Colorado River near Bullhead City AZ and then a return to a fav of ours, the Saddle Mountain BLM. I just could not believe how green it was there.

In the final two weeks, we camped once again at the gorgeous Lost Dutchman State Park east of Phoenix. The views of the Superstition Mountains are breathtaking. We also love the wildlife viewing. Besides a plethora of birdlife, including Gambel Quail and Roadrunners, we were thrilled to spot a Bobcat, Coyote, and Back-Tail Jack Rabbit right from our campsite.

Several storms came through while we were there bringing rain and fog and even snow to the higher elevations. The inclement weather sucked for us. No hanging outside in shorts and flip flops sipping on cocktails at happy hour.
However, it did make great fodder for our camera lenses. Nabbing some interesting shots of the famed Sonoran desert landscapes.

This was the third winter and second Christmas in a row Anne and I have enjoyed Lost Dutchman, maybe a tradition is forming.
BTW, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas or whichever holiday you celebrate and a Happy New Year. Cheers!
