We were
HOT, HOT, HOT
at the
Decatur Arts Fest!

And we're not just talking about the weather! Between our booths at the Kids Arts Fest (we said "yes" to the A/C inside the Decatur Recreation Center!), our members selling their art at our Decatur Makers Market, and the Take Apart & Make Art event, we had a busy, creative Memorial Day Weekend at the Decatur Arts Festival 2019.

Thanks to our good friends at the Decatur Arts Alliance for putting on another great event, and big hugs to all our wonderful volunteers including the folks from Volunteer! Decatur who helped us out! See you all next year!

What We're Making

Member Mike S. did an amazing job dressing up his home's front entryway with his new wood and metal seat, hanging shelf and creative wooden art. He made everything from raw walnut and maple with a sprinkle of maker imagination. Beautiful!
Member Katie Jo finished this incandescent jellyfish lantern as her first project in the space! She says this about being a member of Decatur Makers: "So excited to have all the fun things to try and space to do it!" #wehaveawesomemembers
Using our Glowforge laser cutter, member Amy etched on leather she used to create a dice bag and rolling tray as part of her burgeoning Etsy business. #tabletoproleplayinggames

And we were making it happen at our first annual Make It Up! improv show last month! Enormous shout out to the hysterically awesome group of improvisors who had us laughing til we cried, as well as to all our members, volunteers, and attendees who made it such a success. And special love to our Event Sponsors Eddies Attic and DecaturFM. You rock! We'll see you all next year...

What We're Sharing

Thanks so much to Fernbank Museum for inviting us to share our circuit blocks, Art bot, Otto robot and one of our members' hexapod robot at Robot Day! Such a great crowd of creative, curious families. #makerkidsrock #stemeducation#adultshavefuntoo
These students from the Heartwood School were engaged and curious as our member Amy worked with them on designing in 2D design software Gravit where they personalized a key chain they cut and engraved on our laser cutter. Well done!
We love when the kids from AllSouls maker camp join us for some hands-on making! This year they played with our circuit blocks (and created rolling cars!), built and decorated Art Bots with electric toothbrushes that made cool art, and made loads of creative buttons. #makerkidsrock

Our Cool Sponsors!

Woot woot! We'd like to send a huge thank you to the City of Decatur for their continued support of our impact in the community as we empower people of all ages to create and learn by building and making. "We CARE" too. Thank you!
#smallbusiness #entrepreneurs #makersgonnamake
A big shoutout to another sponsor continuing their support, Big Nerd Ranch! An organization that designs and builds exceptional apps and teaches others to do the same, they are a great match in their interest to support us as we help others to create and learn by building and making all kinds of exceptional projects. Thank you!
