Knapp-Polzin Receives 2016 Chair's Award
The Minnesota Section of IFT presented Brenda Knapp-Polzin with the 2016 Chair's Award, which recognizes a member in the section who has served the Section and the profession in an outstanding manner. The Award consists of an engraved plaque with the citation and honorarium. The presentation was featured at the Minnesota IFT dinner meeting on December 12, 2016. The Award recognizes the dedication that many IFT members have for their professional scientific society and says “thank you” to all who have given their time to improve the future of the food sector. About Our Speaker, Dr. Dennis R. Heldman:
Dr. Dennis R. Heldman is the Dale Seiberling Endowed Chair in Dairy Food Engineering at The Ohio State University.  Prior to joining OSU, Dr. Heldman was a professor of Food Engineering and Department Head of Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University, Vice President for Process Research & Development for Campbell Soup Company, executive positions within the National Food Processors Association, consultant with the Weinberg Group, and Professor of Food Engineering at University of Missouri and Rutgers University. Dr. Heldman has served as the president of IFT (2006-7) along with having served on numerous IFT committees.  In 2011 he presented the Bernard E. Proctor Food Engineering Division Lecture.  Dr. Heldman is also the 2013 recipient of the IFT Carl R. Fellers award.  Dr. Heldman has over 125 published research papers and has authored numerous books including the ubiquitous Introduction to Food Engineering.  The Minnesota Section of IFT is proud to have Dr. Heldman be the 2017 recipient of the Harold Macy Food Science & Technology Award.

At the last IFT Minnesota Section meeting, new FSCN Department Head, Kumar Mallikarjunan, had the opportunity to meet the first FSCN Department Head, Elwood Caldwell.
