The Minnesota Section of the Institute of Food Technologists (MN IFT) December Dinner Event was co-sponsored by MN IFT and the University of Minnesota Chapter of Phi Tau Sigma, The Honor Society of Food Science and Technology, on December 12, 2016. Dr. Michael T. Osterholm, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota and past Minnesota State Epidemiologist, spoke about Food, Foodborne Disease, and Food for Thought. He gave a fantastic talk, weaving together a great number of varying topics from agricultural sustainability, Genetically Modified products, foodborne illness outbreaks, to even politics and the advancement of science. Call For "Point People"
The Membership Committee is looking for people within our university and company networks to become our “Point People” for MNIFT communication. We need one person per location to help us get the MNIFT word out in formats that work for your network, but also be available for questions and comments. We feel that companies and/or universities with a strong key point of contact have benefitted from individuals communicating information on the communities’ behalf and also have a small network of people to attend events with. The time requirement is minimal, and this wonderful newsletter does all the work for you. Please consider helping us, and thank you in advance for championing this great organization.
