Qing Min Prayer Service

Qing Ming is a traditional festival for the Chinese to remember and honour their ancestors by visiting their columbarium, graves or burial grounds.

As Buddhists, we can spend Qing Ming Festival recollecting the kindness of our forefathers and honouring them by remembering how they had lived a worthy life. In addition, we can also emulate the qualities of the noble ones who have come before us by observing their teachings.

Dharma Q & A

The Qing Ming Festival takes place on 5 April this year. It is a Chinese tradition for families to remember and honour their departed loved ones by praying and making offerings. This act of remembrance is a way to show our gratitude and filial piety.

The Qing Ming Festival upholds the practice of "continually making offerings to the deceased loved ones." No amount or size of offerings will ever be more important than one's gratitude from the heart towards the deceased.
