Welcome to 2020, it's been a fraught and challenging holiday period. Even for those of us not directly affected by the burning and devastation I think we are all touched by the intensity and extremeness of the situation. How do we offer support and also manage feelings of loss and mourning (of lives, homes, of landscape we know and love and of animals and wildlife)? How do we make sense and take action around this devastation? l know for sure that community becomes strong in such adversity, and there are many touching stories of hope and healing. I believe it's a time of healthy questioning, of traditional values and who we put our faith in to guide and lead us with our wellbeing in mind. 

I saw a fb post of the already new shoots and growth sprouting from burnt trees. This gave me hope that nature will always recover, and perhaps we can become wiser, more charitable, more vocal and caring custodians of each other and the planet.

It is an opportunity to think deeply...

This is a personal story about my journey with yoga. My practice is quite disciplined and regular but it wasn't always like that. I started in India in my early 20's and I haven't stopped. When I had young children I grabbed snatches of yoga whenever I could, split up during the day, last minute at night when I had some time, with kids crawling over me. I still often get up hang washing out, make my daughter breakfast, and yes sometimes send emails on my phone!
All through obstacles I persist because I always feel expanded and energised after a practice. As I mature in my yoga journey I know that for me it is a stabiliser, regulator, mind quietening and spiritually enhancing experience. Yoga offers self inquiring, self development and a way of tampering my mental fluctuations. For me yoga is an elixir. So basically don't give up, keep going, be respectful of the changes and challenges that change the way you practice.
