Credential Search Feature

Provider Connections is excited to announce that our website will soon have an updated and more sophisticated search component available for providers. The Credential Search currently allows individuals to search by name, county, Child and Family Connections office, etc. While these same features will be available, our hope is that you will find the new search easier and quicker to use than before. Keep posted to the Provider Connections website for updated information on how to use the new search area when it becomes available.

Applying for the Evaluator/Assessment Credential

When applying for the Evaluator/Assessment Credential, the reports must be FERPA and HIPAA compliant. Information about these two Acts can be found  on the Evaluator Applicants page on the Provider Connections' website.
If identifying information is found on the reports, they will be denied. Acceptable ways to refer to individuals include first names or initials (e.g., Mrs. A.). EI Numbers must not be included. However, the the child's birth date and the date the assessment was conducted must be included in the reports, as these dates are crucial to the review team's interpretation of the child's evaluation. Remember, this is ONLY when applying for the Evaluator/Assesment credential, not for all reports.

Holiday Hours

December 19th will be the last day for processing materials in 2014. Provider Connections offices will be closed from December 22, 2014—January 2, 2015. All mail opened on January 5 will be date-stamped December 31, 2014.

Early Intervention Provider Payments

Ever wonder what all the steps are in between submitting claims to the Early Intervention Central Billing Office (CBO) and receiving a check from the Illinois Office of Comptroller (IOC)?

Please check out Understanding the Payment Process

Provider Connections' website continues to be the “go to” place for up-to-date information about EI provider payments. As soon as funds are secured and a voucher payment processed, a notice is posted on the Provider Connections website. To be notified whenever there is a new posting, register for the RSS feed by clicking on the Icon on the bottom of the Provider Connections home page.

Employment Changes

If you are a provider who is leaving an agency to work independently or to work for another agency, you must notify our office. The Department of Human Services policy requires you notify Provider Connections when you terminate employment with an EI agency. This procedure works as a safeguard for both the provider and the agency. Documentation should indicate your name, your last date of employment with the agency, your signature, and the date. Inactivation letters may be faxed or mailed to Provider Connections. If you are no longer working as an individual provider, follow the same process.

Know the Number of Approved Training Hours

When you are considering continuing education events to attend, we recommend looking them up on the EI Training website. Why? First, you need to determine if it is an EI-approved training as credit cannot be awarded for non-approved events. You can search for a given training either by title or by date. Keep in mind that the title and date on the certificate must match what is posted on the website in order to receive credit. Secondly, when the EI Training Program approves a workshop from outside sponsors, it may award full credit or partial credit based on its content. You should not automatically assume a 5-hour training is approved for the full number of hours.

Provider Tips

  • Make copies of your materials—we have to charge a fee if we do it.
  • Treat forms as official documents, please don't highlight, make notes, or shrink the size.
  • Send Credential Extension Requests Forms 30 days before the credential expiration date.
  • Download forms from the website to ensure you have the most current documents.

Survey Results

Many thanks to those of you who took the time to respond to the Credentialing and Enrollment Satisfaction Survey. We appreciate the feedback and look forward to incorporating your ideas and suggestions for improving our website and services.

Handwritten Certificates...Not Accepted

Although the policy has been in place since 2012, there still seems to be some confusion about submitting certificates with handwritten names on them. Provider Connections requires that all certificates submitted for initial credentialing or for renewal purposes include computer-generated names on them. Items submitted with handwritten names will not be accepted and could cause your application to be delayed in processing. If you have been issued a certificate with a space to write your name, please contact the sponsoring organization and request that they return a certificate with your name preprinted on it.

Attention Temporary Providers

Most providers need only the Consultation Verification Form and the Ongoing Professional Documentation Form to move from a temporary to a full credential, not a Credential Renewal Application. These forms may be found under New Applicants, Temporary Requirements. Please note that a signature is required next to each meeting date listed. A line drawn down the page or the word "same" on subsequent lines is invalid documentation. Both documents may be faxed to Provider Connections.
Service Coordinators, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Social Work Assistants, and Psychology Assistants needing to complete the Core Knowledge Areas requirement do not need a renewal application. Copies of certificates are needed. These should be sent in the mail rather than faxed.
