Reasons for Judo Success

Judospace psychological adviser Rebeka Tandarik recently completed a research project exploring the psychological contribution towards success in judo.

She found that judoka and other martial artists attributed their success or failure to psychological factors..

Her role as our Psychology Advisor includes assistance and support to athletes. Helping with emotion control, competition preparation and athlete psychological well-being. Rebeka asks

Yoshiaki Tsuruoka visits Fort Purbrook Judo Club.

Kodokan's Yoshiaki Tsuruoka, the Judospace Technical Intern recently visited Fort Purbrook Judo Club, Portsmouth. Whilst there Yoshiaki coached children aged 4-12 years of age, using methods he found enjoyable and effective as a young judo player in Japan. He also then coached his favorite techniques to the adult players.
Yoshiaki described his trip as: 

"a very good experience, with working with children as food for thought for the future."

Prof Fumiaki Shishida visits Judospace

Professor Fumiaki Shishida, from Waseda University recently visited the Judospace offices to collaborate on international judo research. Professor Shishida, currently a scholar at Anglia Ruskin Universiy met with Dr Callan, Judospace CEO, together they visited the Bowen Archive and archivist Mr Lizzie Richmond.

Commonwealth Games Selection for Andy Burns

Judospace Strength and Conditioning Advisor Andy Burns has been selected to represent Scotland in the -90kg category at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Best of luck to Andy for this event!
