 November at Hope House!

 As the season starts to shift, and we move slowly but surely towards cooler weather, we have some wonderful ways to warm and support the body, mind and spirit!

As always, included in this newsletter, you will find a Zen with Gwen wellness practice created specially for our Hope House community. This month offers a practice that invites in a sense of cozy calm through gentle movement and mindfulness.

You will also find the link to our ever growing Self Care Practice Library that offers over 50 yoga, mindfulness and guided meditation practices to enjoy. 

 An up to date weekly program calendar and schedule can also be found on the Hope House website
 here.

 Last but not least, scroll a little further down and you will find the November Wellness Programs. If you have yet to join us, now could be the perfect time to try something new!
 



Zen with Gwen at Home Practice!

 

  Gwendolyn has created a cozy mudra meditation and gentle movement session for us this month.

Along with your yoga mat, some suggested additions could be having a warm cup of tea, warm socks, a candle, your favorite essential oil, or simply some pillows and a toasty blanket on hand. Whatever says cozy to you!

This practice will be a nice one to return to throughout the month for some relaxation and self care.

Our zoom group wellness sessions are all about attending to your wellbeing through movement, mindfulness and simply wonderful selfcare.

*Monday -Permission to Pause Yoga   ​​Give yourself permission to pause at the start of each week to restore and renew your body, mind and spirit. Roll out your yoga mat to enjoy a one hour morning session that combines a 30 minute gentle yoga practice with a 30 minute centering guided yoga nidra . . This practice is suitable for all levels of yogis! ​​Join us ​Mondays 10-11:00 am

 *Wednesday-Movement for Health, Energy, Joy & Deep Rest! 

Employing the self-regulating tools of yoga, qigong (gentle moving meditation), free dance, voluntary and involuntary movement; ….you will move gently into a natural state of deep relaxation, and Joy. Experience the energy (chi) that is all around us and within….and simply PLAY!

*Friday- Qi Gong for Health & Healing 
​  Qi Gong is a mind, body spirit practice that improves mental and physical health by integrating posture, movement, breathing techniques and focused intent that moves and refreshes our vital life force energy. This gentle session lead by Andrea can be done standing or seated.  ​ Join us ​

*Mindfulness 101 -4 Week Series
MINDFULNESS 101 is a 4-week program led by Cheryl Crosby exploring themes and guided practices that will act as touchstones for creating a greater sense of mindfulness in your life. 
Appropriate for  those new to mindfulness and for those seeking inspiration and to renew an ongoing practice.

* Switching Lenses- Monthly Gathering

Photography& Gratitude

Each month will offer opportunities for switching the lens in which we view the world. Facilitated by  Karen Glen, each session will have discussion and reflection, and an opportunity to  learn and apply photography techniques to encourage the creation of your very own visual gratitude practice

* Rest to Rise Monthly Gathering

A monthly session focused on improving our relationship with sleep, rest & wakefulness through the practice of yoga and yoga therapy techniques and teachings.

* Welcoming Winter- A Heart Warming Approach
Join Gwendolyn for a 6-week series that will ignite a sense of warmth and wellbeing as we move into the winter season. 
Using an intentional heart-warming approach through yoga, mindfulness and movement practices, each session will deeply nourish the mind, body and spirit and create within ourselves a place of gratitude, comfort and ease.

*Touchstone Bracelet Workshop

Join Hope House Counsellor Annette Newton as she leads a guided session to engage in reflection and self inquiry, while creating your own touchstone bracelet. You will select beads to symbolize your special memories and feelings on your journey through grief. Creating your personal bracelet will help you to connect with your loved one and serve as a touchstone for hope and healing to carry with you wherever you go.
                             Tuesday November 29th @7-8:30pm

Our intake Coordinator Georgina shares some simple selfcare tips that she practices with her beloved walking buddy Charlie...

Spend time outside.

Enjoy the moment.

Inhale -Hold- Exhale-Hold-and so on...Make your way around the whole leaf and pause. Feel your stress and worry release and float gently to the ground.
