Happy September from IWI!

This month, we celebrated International Literacy Day on the 8th. The rates of illiteracy among women are still staggering compared to those of men. IWI is dedicated to pushing forward and ending illiteracy. In order to do this, women are in need of an equal education.

Also this month, we will celebrate International Day of Peace on the 21st. Peace is crucial to our mission of eliminating human rights violations against women. Across the world, women are suffering in wartime conflict. Many are victims of rape, displacement, sex slavery, and interpersonal violence during times of conflict.

Last week, a report was published by the Guardian that found that 155 countries had laws limiting women's equality, including the US and the UK, who had two laws respectively. To read the publication, click here.

Despite these trials, we forge on. And IWI remains committed to stopping the crusade against women. We are continuing to prepare for our Safe Birthing Programme, and we are still in search for staff members for the following positions:
  • Volunteer Grant Writer
  • Volunteer Director of Development and Programmes
  • Advisory Board Member
If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact ashayler@internationalwomensinitiative.org.

Yours in the fight for justice,
Alyssa Chassman
