From the President

It's been an eventful week on the media front for communicators with the launch of Newsroom, a "free, independent news and current affairs website – aiming to bring you quality New Zealand journalism on the Things that Matter". Their exclusive launch story on eggs from caged hens being sold as 'free range' has set the news agenda for the week and hot off the heels of their launch we have co-editor Tim Murphy joining us to present at our April evening event. Tim will talk about the challenges of "doing the news" in an economically viable way in 2017.

If you're looking for some new year professional development opportunities, IABC Asia-Pacific are offering the next in their series of free webinars, this time providing an opportunity to hear from Malaysia-based, Aisha Rashid, who will bring insights from her close to four decades as an accredited Public Relations professional (register here). And just a reminder that IABC Wellington offers a free mentoring programme for members (more here). Perhaps you're looking for a mentor to help guide you in your development, or you may be looking for an opportunity to mentor someone who is newer to the communications field? We've received great feedback from those who have taken part, so I encourage you to take a look.
