Check your mailbox in October for Jefferson Township's annual Fall Newsletter. It has tons of great information about township services, the renewal fire levy, community events, and more. 

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

SWACO, the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, is hosting a household hazardous waste event on September 30 to help residents safely dispose of unwanted materials. The event is free and open to any resident of Franklin County. Residents can bring their old lawn chemicals, paint strippers, acids, insecticides, and more for recycling and/or environmentally safe disposal. See a complete list of accepted materials at

There is a $1 per container charge for the disposal of latex/water based paint.

JTFD Participates in 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

On September 11, four members of the Jefferson Township Fire Department climbed 110 stories in the 2017 Columbus 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor and remember the firefighters, police, and EMS who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live.

Area Gas Line Mapping 

In the coming months, you may see crews in your neighborhood performing gas line mapping on behalf of Columbia Gas. Locations and measurements of underground lines will be performed by employees of Columbia Gas, as well as several contractors: Reconn, Utiliquest, and Woolpert. All crew members carry ID badges, and will present them upon request.  For more information about this surveying program, click the link below to be redirected to Columbia Gas' website. 


Fall Fish Sale 

Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting their annual fish sale, through October 1. Examples of fish available for your pond include Black Crappie, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, White Amur, Yellow Perch, and Fathead Minnow. Pickup will be on Thursday, October 12 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Road Closure Bulletin

On September 5, 2017, Darling Road was closed to through traffic. The section indicated on the map below will remain closed for approximately 4 months. 
Location of Closure:
From 6600 Darling Road to 2717 Darling Road
Location to Nearest Cross Roads:
From 6299 to 6600 Darling, accessible from Clark State Road
From 2501 to 2717 Darling, accessible from Havens and/or Rovilla roads

What's Happening?

Jefferson Township Fire Department, Safe Kids Central Ohio & Columbus Public Health are hosting a FREE Car Seat Check-up on Wed., Sept. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Call us at 614-861-3757 to schedule your car seat check. Bring your kiddos along too! Your little ones are precious, let us help keep them safe in their car seats!
Join us on Saturday, October 21 from 6-9 p.m. for our annual Halloween Party at the Park! We'll have hayrides, a bonfire, nocturnal animals, storytelling, face painting, games, and candy bags for all the little ghosts and goblins. Food and drink may be purchased at the shelter house. To top the night off, take a stroll through the Haunted Forest or the little ones friendly Enchanted Trail!
