Teacher Feature - Chris Booth
If you could be a grazing animal on any historical battlefield, what battle would you choose?
The Battle of Stirling Bridge, 1297. It would be quite peaceful, with lovely scenery....whilst the Scots annihilated the English.
Favorite Takeout Food?
Depends on how much I've exercised that day....if considerable, then Pepperoni and Anchovy pizza....if I've been sedentary, sushi.
Water: sparkling or still?
Sparkling water...I was asked that at every restaurant in London!
What's your walkup song?
"Hand of Fate," Rolling Stones, 1976.
If you could get rid of one state in the U.S., which state would it be, and why?
I would get rid of Florida. Then, my parents and sister might move back to California.
Have you ever stolen a pen from work?
I've never consciously stolen a pen from work, just several thousand dollars....there's not a lot of people reading this..... right?
What kitchen utensil do you most relate to?
As a history teacher, the knife. Knives were used as utensils for eating before forks came into play. Also, it's good defense for anyone trying to take my sushi.
Happening at OA
Students in English 3 are studying the classic American novel The Great Gatsby. To illustrate Fitzgerald's beautiful, poetic prose, students created Found Poems from lines of the novel. Here is a poem compiled by Ian Williams:
I was privy to the secret griefs of wild, unknown men.
Spread the Word - Open House on April 19
As if each speech is an arrangement of notes
that will never be played again
Where an evening was hurried from phase to phase
Towards its close
The wind had blown off
Leaving a loud bright night.
The silhouette of a moving cat
wavered across the moonlight.
When I looked once more
he had vanished And I was alone again
In the unquiet darkness.
Parents--do you know a family looking for a new school for their child for next year? Please spread the word--Orinda Academy is hosting an Open House for new and interested families on April 19 from 7-9p.m. We appreciate the power of our valued parent network!
