Food is the Future Event:


On 22 September 2021, young people and UN Food Systems Summit Action Track chairs jointly held an event to highlight the role young people can play in food systems transformation. Watch the morning and afternoon sessions of the event on our YouTube Channel. 

UN Food Systems Summit:

On 23rd September 2021, the summit was held virtually with people tuning in from around the globe. Visit the summit website to see highlights. Our youth leaders, Mike Khunga and Sophie Healy-Thow spoke at the summit.

Youth Declaration for Food Systems Transformation:

Young people have spoken…and written their commitments and demands for improving our food systems. The declaration was presented at the UN Food Systems Summit. Read the declaration here in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.

Driving Global Youth Action for Climate Adaptation in the Food Systems (an affiliated PreCOP26 session):

A multi-stakeholder event jointly organised under the leadership of CCAFS and Act4Food Act4Change was held during PreCOP26. The event was held in person from Milan with people tuning in from around the globe. Click here to watch the event recording and to see the winners of the VLOG competition.

World Food Forum Opening Ceremony: The World Food Forum kicked off an exciting week of activities on 1st October. Many of our youth leaders are involved including, Rayan, Lana, Sophie, Dara, and Webster.

Dev Sharma
United Kingdom

Sixteen-year-old Dev Sharma from Leicester has been a Young Food Ambassador for the Children’s Right2Food Campaign for three years, in which time he’s delivered a Charter to no. 10 Downing Street, met with several key influential cabinet ministers and Labour leader Keir Starmer, and won the lauded Diana Award for his food poverty activism. Also, a Member of the Youth Parliament for Leicestershire and a Biteback 2030 Campaigner, Dev has been a powerful voice for youth on issues such as holiday hunger and Free School Meals. drawing on his own experiences at school to speak on behalf of his peers. He’s also been a vocal campaigner on the influence of junk food advertising on young people, especially when being bombarded by publicity as he leaves school and on social media.

  • COP26 is taking place in Glasgow from 13th Oct – 12 Nov: Act4Food Act4Change will host an event titled, “Calling all young people to be agents of change in food systems transformation.” This event is brought to you by The Food Foundation working in partnership with WWF. It will be hosted by Dara Karakolis, Act4Food Act4Change Youth Leader from Canada and Global Youth Lead at The Food Foundation. She will be joined by youth leaders from countries across the globe, differing sectors and youth organizations. Join us for a fruitful and inclusive session on youth involvement in food systems transformation. Visit for more information.
