ATHCO-Engineering establishes new business unit in Switzerland

ATHCO-Engineering A/S is proud to announce, that from the beginning of January 2017, we will be able to offer our customers finned-tube heat exchanger solutions in addition to our already established range of products.

The launch of this product will allow us to offer complete turnkey solutions. For example, in the spray drying industry, we will be able to work with you from pre-engineering all the way up to installation of the completed plant – everything from start to finish, from one supplier.

A newly established business unit in Switzerland has allowed this development of our product line, which we are very excited about. We encourage you to read the full newsletter, as it explains the circumstances behind this strategic decision and the opportunities and benefits our expansion has created.

Expanding to Switzerland

We are also proud to announce that we will be working in partnership with Dominic Ettlin, who has more than 12 years professional experience in the heat exchangers industry. His profound knowledge in finned tubes, combined with our know-how in pillow-plate solutions and installation/service of complete plants, builds a strong partnership with many synergies and great advantages for our customers.
All finned-tube heat exchange requests will be processed from our new business unit located in Switzerland lead by Dominic Ettlin and manufactured in our established ATHCO production facilities in Denmark and Poland. Our heat exchanger elements, such as steam heat exchangers, will be manufactured with automated welding machines. Therefore, we will be able to deliver high quality products at cost-efficient prices.
Swiss-engineered, finned-tube heat exchangers, in addition to the wide range of ATHCO products and know-how – there couldn’t be a stronger combination

Dominic Ettlin - ATHCOs new Deputy Director, Switzerland

What is your educational background?

"I have made an apprenticeship as a draftsman from 1999 to 2003 at Siemens Building Technologies AG in Stäfa, Switzerland.
In 2010 I started my studies in mechanical engineering at IBZ in Zurich, where I graduated in 2013 with the degree “HF Mechanical Engineering."

What is your work experience in this field?

"I have been working in the field of industrial finned-tube heat exchangers for more than 12 years.
During this time I’ve had the opportunity to work on pretty much every step of the process – from drawing and designing heat exchangers, to working with thermodynamic calculations, to worldwide commissioning projects, sales negotiations and customer acquisition. It’s an exciting field with amazing global applications."

Statement from René Hansen (CEO of ATHCO-Engineering) about Dominic:

"We have known for quite some time that we wanted to expand our product line with finned-tube products. It was important that we found just the right person with the right skill set and expertise, who could implement this expansion as smoothly and successfully as possible. This was not an easy task, and I can say, without a doubt, that Dominic is the right person for the job. His background and experience in the field of finned-tube heat exchangers is truly noteworthy and he possesses a drive that is equally remarkable. As a person, I've found him to be very trustworthy and warm - important qualities we look for when employing any new colleagues at ATHCO-Engineering. We are proud to welcome Dominic to our company and look forward to a great relationship creating new, exciting opportunities for ATHCO Engineering and our customers."

Expanding our product line with finned-tube based products

Over a longer period of time, we have noticed a growing trend among our customers to combine our Process Therm exhaust recuperators with finned-tube exchangers. By combining these two systems, incoming clean process air can be preheated in finned-tube exchangers and the exhaust process air, which often is polluted, will then go through the cleanable Process Therm recuperator. ATHCO-Engineering will now be able to provide filter housing for both air and circulation units for the water circuit with valves and controls.

This expansion of our product line will undoubtedly add significant value to both ATHCO-Engineering and our customers. It will enable us to act as a one-stop-supplier that can take on all responsibility and ensure that our customers’ required capacity is reached. This is a clear advantage for customers who want to incorporate such a solution.

Our product line will be expanded with the following key products based on finned-tubes:

Heat Exchangers
  • Steam heat exchangers
  • Water heat exchangers
  • Oil heat exchangers
  • Dehumidifiers
Air handling units
  • Air intake units
  • Combined heat exchanger and filter units
