New Boys, Old Blessings

There are currently nine boys at Casa Gabriel! Luis, Paulo, Daniel and Christian are all in their probation period at Casa G. During this time our staff works with the boys to see if they are truly committed to our discipleship ministry and making positive steps towards a healthy future. We evaluate the 6 areas of our holistic training model: Physical, Emotional, Social, Cognitive, Spiritual, and life Purpose. We give them the opportunity to say, "Yes, I want to be here in this family environment which includes homework, chores, curfews, and consequences, so that I can learn and grow and graduate high school and make a plan for the future which does not include living on the streets."

As we, the Casa Gabriel team, enter this season of having new boys in the house, it makes us appreciate the boys who have each been with us for over a year, and how far they've come. Carlos, Dario, David, Moises, and Jackson have all grown in so many ways while being here. However in the day-to-day of normal life, it can be difficult to see that. Having new boys in the house helps us reflect on the little things the boys have learned - like saying thank you without being prompted and getting homework done on time - to bigger areas like trust.

It's natural for the boys who come to us to be pretty shy at first. They've had a lot of disappointments in their lives. People, such as their parents, have let them down, left them to fend for themselves. Hearing one of the boys share his story for the first time is a huge milestone. It shows how he has grown to trust the team and other boys with his personal story. He's willing to say, "This is what happened to me ... but it does not define me."

As we invest in new boys, we are thankful for our current boys and for all they've learned (and taught us as well). Looking ahead, David and Carlos will be graduating high school this coming June! They have worked SO hard and are rightfully very excited about this accomplishment.
We are also excited about the team from Christian Fellowship and The Chapel who will be visiting Casa Gabriel and Casa Adalia this April to do much-needed renovation projects in both homes. We're in a season of looking forward to many new things ... and looking back on the daily blessings which quietly pile up, sometimes unnoticed until we stop to see them and say "Thank you".

Phil Douce and the Casa Gabriel Team
These are our boys. They are silly and serious. Good and goofy. Figuring out life. Sometimes listening, sometimes not. They are each unique, each loved by a God who created us with a plan for each individual person, and who gives enough mercy to cover every mistake and misstep. Some days are tough, some days are victorious, and every day is an adventure of growing in grace.

Prayer Requests and Praises

:: Pray for healthy integration of our new boys - Paulo, Luis, Daniel, Christian.
:: Pray for Christian's health: for physical healing, and for the best living situation for him, whether it is at Casa Gabriel or another place which may better meet his needs.
:: Phil and Debbie Douces will be gone in March: pray for the team and boys while they are gone. Also pray that the Douces would have a blessed time in the States as they visit with family, meet their first grandchild, and prepare to lead a team coming April 1st.
:: Praise for God's provision for the boys and staff, and for the team coming to do needed work on the home!
Current Projects

We are working on two exciting new projects: Home Renovation Phase 2 and our Vocational Training Program. We are so excited to have Christian Fellowship of Columbia MO and The Chapel EFC of MI putting together a team which is coming this April! What a blessing that will be to have them here!
Would you be able to help us raise all the needed funds for these projects? Giving information is included below (just be sure to specify if the donation is going to a specific project). For more information, you can check out our Current Projects webpage. We are always so thankful for the prayers and support which make this ministry possible.
