:: We currently have six boys living at Casa Gabriel: Dario, Jackson, Snaider, David, Moises, and Javier. We continue to disciple graduates and other boys with whom we have relationship through Casa Gabriel: below are some stories and updates.
:: You prayed with us when an older sister of one of our boys, Daniel, attempted suicide last November. Her survival was truly a gift from God. However, because of concern for his family and difficulty with some of the rules in Casa Gabriel, Daniel made the decision in December to live with his family, about four hours away. We encouraged him to stay in in school and offered to continue to pay for his school costs. Two weeks ago he and his sister surprised us with a visit at Casa G. The sister and her husband and children, plus Daniel and his younger sister, had moved to Quito. Daniel asked permission to come study at Casa Gabriel at least once a week with the other boys and receive tutoring with our academic coordinator. We are so happy to see Daniel continuing to stay in school and once again being a regular part of Casa Gabriel. This last week Daniel, the sister, her 4 children and a cousin, named Jonathan showed up at our door. There had been a serious family conflict and they had nowhere else to turn. We found a safe home for Daniel’s sister and her children. Daniel and Jonathan are visiting his other sister and plan to return to Casa Gabriel at the end of the week. We will see how this unfolds for both of them. Please pray with us as we discern our role in God’s plan for these young men.
:: Our graduates from last year, brothers Miguel and Jesus, are doing very well. Miguel has his own place and has been working and saving for college. Jesus has one more month to go in his internship with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Chile and Brazil. They plan to share a place together, work and take classes. It will be fun to include an update from Jesus when he returns from his time in Chile and Brazil with YWAM.
:: We met Carlos over 5 years ago as a good friend of Juan Miguel, one of our Casa Gabriel graduates. Every week day, Carlos comes to the house and cooks a hot lunch for the boys and the houseparents. We pay him for his work, yet he is much more than just a cook at Casa G: he helps out in many other ways as a support for the house parents, and participates in the weekly dinner at Phil and Debbie's house. Carlos has a giving heart and a gentle spirit, and we are blessed to have him be a part of Casa Gabriel in the capacity of cook and friend.
:: Other boys that are a part of, though not living at, Casa Gabriel include: - Alejandro M., who graduated high school in 2013 and received full scholarships to study engineering at the university of his choice. - Juan Miguel, who was a part of a worship internship at Woodbury Lutheran Church last year and is now working and saving for university so he can pursue his dream of a career in music production. - Joel, younger brother of Jesus and Miguel, who has received discipleship with us for many years now.
Thank you so much for praying for all of the boys and staff of Casa Gabriel!

Annual Team Conference
Every January, Youth World has a conference where all of the ministries come together in one place, the beautiful El Refugio retreat center. We share ministry updates, prayer and praise updates, and are renewed and united in serving God. Below is a photo from the conference: all of us mission workers in one place. It is so good to have strong fellowship here in Ecuador, which is appreciated and needed just as much as the support and prayers of you, our friends and family. Thank you for being a part of ministry with us, as we (Phil and Debbie) have begun year thirteen of life and serving God in Ecuador!
