Hey Writers!

We've been analyzing online writing, and today we are going to just jump in and write!

Injoy,

Mrs. Popejoy

Sometimes you just have to write!

That's what we are going to do today.

Assignment

Write a 200-500 word article on your favorite learning activity.

Write about a unique way you learned something (maybe by attending an event, hands-on, making a mistake, an experiment, through music, art, science--whatever).
  • The tone of the article can be technical: Reading the directions is the best way to figure out how to assemble a bicycle
  • Or it can be written in story form: Seth unwrapped the box and gasped. His parents had gotten him the mountain bike he wanted--but he was going to have to assemble it himself. In his stocking was the screwdriver--and the directions, rolled up and stuffed into the toe.
  • Or it can be a humorous retelling: I was so excited when I unwrapped the box and realized my parents had gotten me the bike I had been hinting about for months. I wanted to ride it right away, and ran to get my coat. But Dad stopped me in my tracks when he said I was going to have to put it together first. Who gives their kid a bike they have to assemble? A homeschooling parent. I found the screwdriver and instructions stuffed in the toe of my stocking hanging over the fireplace.
  • Or it could be a comparison between a successful and a not-so-successful way of learning.
