A Partial Introduction

As a different kind of update, here is a PARTIAL 4-part INTRODUCTION to the Story God is writing in Rockwood...stay tuned for future chapters God is writing!

After their experience managing the 3rd largest NGO in the Philippines, a man named Brad Ketch and his wife Lynn returned to Oregon with a vision to do community development among those living in poverty here.  Two years ago they founded the Rockwood Community Development Corporation (  Our team is currently partnering with the Rockwood CDC (and Brad & Lynn have become close friends).
In September 2014, The Black Cat Cantina (Latin restaurant in Rockwood) went up for sale.  Johnny Diablo, occultic-themed strip club owner, offered to pay in cash the $1.3 million they were asking.  To make a VERY LONG story short...
Two years ago, a man named Scott McCracken and his wife Vicki were winding up their time serving refugees in Greece.  They eventually settled in Portland, Oregon to serve on a team (currently with Maureen Heath and Michele Munoz) that raises awareness and works toward the prevention of Child Sex Trafficking.  As part of the "prevention" component, they are also working to mobilize others to make holistic investments in the "at-risk" community of Rockwood.
...2 weeks ago the Rockwood Community Development Corporation signed a ONE-YEAR LEASE with an option to buy...
...As Is Church has signed to become an "anchor tenant" and will have their first service there on February 8th...
...two other anchor tenants have signed on...
About 3 years ago a man named Scott Bradley and his wife Gwenna were starting a church called     "As Is Church" (  The church is growing quickly (over 200 now) and recently faced the challenge of needing to move from the most recent of their "borrowed" facilities.  All known possibilities kept closing.  Scott and Vicki are part of this wonderful church.
...the remaining space and schedule slots will serve the needs of the community...
...the new name of the facility is "The Sunrise Center", and it is flush up against the apartment complex "Barberry Village" (170 of their 190 units are dedicated to housing newly arrived refugees)...
...our church is on fire to reach the community for Christ...
