 30 years with ITeams!

Can you believe it was August 1986 that Vicki and I entered into missionary training with International Teams as two single people?!?  Some of you have been with us from the very beginning and some have joined up along the way.  Whichever the case, we are SO VERY GRATEFUL for YOU and the part you currently play in helping us reach the nations through Rockwood.

We would like to take this issue to CLARIFY with you what we ARE and are NOT doing in our current ministry...

* We are NOT rescuing girls from sex trafficking.  "Rescue" is really the job of law enforcement in our country, so this was never our purpose or intention.

* One of our 4 teammates has been involved in mentoring survivors and at-risk girls, and supporting an organization that does "restoration".

* We ARE actively RAISING AWARENESS about Child Sex Trafficking in schools, churches, civic clubs and wherever we can get an audience.

*  We ARE working on PREVENTION by going LONG AND DEEP to mobilize holistic investment into Oregon's poorest community (Rockwood) for the purpose of integrated community transformation.  We want to be a part of building a community where kids will not be vulnerable to sex trafficking and where adults will not want to traffick kids.  According to a trafficking survivor I spoke with (who has her own ministry in Washington state), VERY FEW PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS are thinking about long-term prevention in this way.

* We ARE sharing the Gospel through PROCLAMATION and DEMONSTRATION with our neighbors on our street, through our church in Rockwood, and in partnership with the Rockwood Community Development Corporation and other growing partnerships in Rockwood.

Again, thanks for your continued prayer/financial support on our behalf!  We appreciate you so very much!

Two years ago, Scott took the role of INTERIM Community Transformation Director of our ministry in the Portland area.

As we have worked together to help bring integrated community transformation to Rockwood, our teammate Lindsey Boulais has filled the role as "Ministry Coordinator for Refugees".  Her incarnational living experience in Barberry Village, her love for children and influence in their families, her teaching skills and intelligent thinking, learning mindset, and organizational abilities have all been huge assets to our collaborative efforts.

But we have also grown to appreciate Lindsey's leadership skills.  Her ability to encourage and work with others, the continual asking of good questions, her development of ministries, inviting the input of others and making decisions, attention to detail and focus on vision and purpose are just a few examples.

In mid-August, the president of International Teams Scott Olson, and U.S. Senior Area Director Keith Allison visited us in Portland in order to help me "pass the torch" to Lindsey.  Effective September 1st, Lindsey is now the CTD for our team, and we are all joyfully confident in submitting to her humble leadership as God uses her to lead us all into better and deeper places of making Him known in Rockwood and beyond!

Thanks for your continued prayers on her behalf!
