Gang Shooting on Our Street

2 Victims in the Hospital, Shooters escaped

Although it happened while we out with friends, we arrived shortly afterward, and our boys (who were home at the time) heard the eight shots fired and saw the shooters run past our house.

Please pray that we will know how to respond to our neighbors and the gang members (as we are able) in a way that will bring glory to God and reveal Him to our neighborhood.  Portland needs Jesus, and we need wisdom about how to make Him known.
Every "2020 Team" (of which we are one) needs a "Community Transformation Catalyst" (CTC).  This is a leadership position that nobody on our "End Slavery Team" wanted.  However, after much "pestering" on the part of the Holy Spirit in my life, I have repented of the FEAR OF FAILURE, and have agreed to TEMPORARILY take the role of INTERIM CTC, until a more long-term one can be found.

The above picture is of our current team (minus Vicki) at a day-long Vision Retreat we recently had.  We hope to share more details later in the year about that day, and how we sensed the Lord leading.

Integrated community investment is not only important as it relates to PREVENTION of sex trafficking, but also as it relates to the Kingdom of God and His heart for communities as well as individuals.

After several months of orientation, applying, re-applying, and lots of waiting I have finally been matched in a mentoring relationship with a refugee from Africa.  The only thing I can say (due to confidentiality issues) is that he is a teenage boy and he is from central Africa.

Please pray that I will be a blessing in his life in ways that will touch him and his family and beyond.

One of our dear Afghan brothers "J" has recently experienced the joyous reunion with his wife and son after being separated during the refugee journey for over 3 years!  This was a wonderful answer to many prayers.

But time and distance have brought many changes which also make this a time of difficult adjustments for both of them.  He is a passionate follower of Jesus and she is not (yet).  PLEASE pray for both of them during this time that is full of mixed emotions and getting re-acquainted as a family.

"J" and I are communicating via skype for prayer and encouragement during these times.  Please pray for wisdom for both of us.
