Weekend Edition
December 30, 2022

A car going at a high rate of speed missed a turn in Point Reyes and launched into a field. Sounds like the driver was ok. Apparently the person had an iPhone 14 with crash detection that called 911. Roads are slick, please drive safe.

News Summary

  • Word is going around West Marin that Cheda's Garage in Point Reyes Station (that turns 100 this year) will no longer have a tow truck in 2023. This is in part due to the current truck no longer meeting the strict emissions standards of California. Tim Bunce, the tow truck driver, is a legend.
  • Local resident Scot Anderson from the California White Shark Project was on KWMR recently discussing their research.
  • The gray whales are migrating right now, Joe Soule over at the Point Reyes FB page has a great shot of them at the Point Reyes Lighthouse.
  • That last storm was a good one, up to three inches measured on the Inverness Ridge, lightning and thunder plus a 20 foot wave was spotted off Point Reyes.
  • The next set of storms are lining up for the next two weeks. Heavy rain starts this evening, and then we get another shot next week. Here is the Nicasio Reservoir pre-storm, will it spillover this winter?
