Christmas Appeal: Fill a basket and Feed a Family...

In our last newsletter we shared the incredible efforts of our team in delivering food aid to villagers affected by Cyclone Komen.
Thanks to the generosity of many supporters, we were able to deliver over 74,500kg of food aid between September and November to villagers affected by the crisis, in addition to running 47 free medical clinics across Chin State.

Last week we released a photographic report of the work so far.  If you would like to read about this in detail, you can download the report from our website by clicking on this link.
One of the devastating consequences of the high winds and heavy rains, was that both the maize and rice harvests were badly damaged.  This has created ongoing severe food shortages across the region.

This Christmas time, we're running an appeal to help families affected by the food crisis.  Can you help fill a basket and feed a family?  A donation of £30 will provide food for a family of five for a month this Christmas.

How does it work?

1You give £30 or more

2We buy the food in bulk

3We fill the baskets

4We deliver food to families

5We'll send you a report

Year in review: Achievements from 2014-2015

In November we also released our Annual Report for 2014-2015 documenting achievements from January 2014 to March 2015.
Over the period, we were able to train 157 Community Health Workers (CHWs) from 82 villages supporting a population of over 24,000 people with primary healthcare services.

We were also able to extend our training for Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) to 93 women from 47 villages, support the building of 19 Community Health and Education Centres, distribute multi-vitamins to over 19,000 children and support 59 students to continue studies beyond high school.
Beyond the numbers are some wonderful stories of hope from both the CHWs and the students impacted by the work.  You can download our Annual Report from our website or by clicking on the button below.

The year ahead: Our plans for 2016

Looking forward to the year ahead, the team will be travelling in and around Chin State, delivering additional food and medical aid to villagers who continue to be affected by ongoing food insecurity due to the recent cyclone.  The focus for the new year will be to consolidate the training of the existing Community Health Workers (CHWs) through the launch of a refresher course and village level support programme, enabling the CHWs to continue to serve effectively in their communities.
We will also be finishing the building of a number of Community Health and Education centres, as well as starting a new community health financing initiative which will enable the community to take ownership of the health services they receive and will contribute to the financial sustainability of our work.

We will continue to support at least 51 students over the coming year to further their education in colleges and universities around the world as part of our programme to equip the next generation of leaders of Chin State.  We also hope to provide the opportunity for at least 10 new students to start college education.

If you would like to partner with us financially or know of an individual / group or company that would be interested in contributing to our work of bringing health, education and hope to communities in western Myanmar, please do contact the team on or phone Chris on +44 (0)20 8144 5701.
We couldn’t do all of this without your ongoing support for which we are so grateful.

Do keep in touch with us through our website and Facebook over the course of the year as we continue this vital work.
A message of thanks from Dr Sasa and the team during our last training session!
